Ashes Cricket General Discussion

May people here were more critical of Ashes gameplay that @BigAntStudios is taking time to release the patch.

AO Tennis people were more sweet that they get patches every alternate week.

And thus once more things came to a shuddering, grinding halt.
@Ashy1985's comment is a classic example of posting something without consideration of content or purpose. It adds nothing to the conversation but serves only to antagonise some people or galvanise others to continue to post the banal and the pointless. This is a public forum (albeit with moderated membership) but that does not mean that everyone has the right to post whatever drifts across their mind. I wish people would just think before they post and consider the tone and purpose of what they write. If it isn't helping others on the forum, whether those others are also posting or just reading, then don't post it. That doesn't mean that you can only post fawning praise but what you post needs to bear some evidence of critical thinking...and should strive to be of interest to others rather than just a statement of some groundless, solipsistic opinion.

However, as I said in my earlier post, I would hope that the majority of people on this forum simply ignore such fatuous posts rather than see them as reflective of the community at large. They should not be allowed to bring things to a shuddering halt...they should be ignored...which is what I normally choose to do.

Thats way too much seam
Yeah that's what it is......that's why I showed it........so now we have genuine seam movement and that's all you have to say? There is a tweaking process going on FFS....Oh man you are going to utterly puke at this one.....

Don't worry it wont halt anything....I meant the flow of conversation indeed.....

So the great thing about what the ball is doing (whether it is too much or not is another question) is that you are going to have to re-learn how to bat.....will it go straight, will it shape in or out? That is of course only possible if you can still play a valid shot as late as possible to counter the seam movement.....that is the quest......it also brings back in the possibility of the genuine LBW whilst bowling or batting

So I think from memory you bat with the pitch marker on, is that correct?

If so do you think it's be as challenging batting with the ball marker rather than the pitch marker? Will the ball marker give away the seam movement?

? Hit a crack and go...
Is that a way of saying F-off??[DOUBLEPOST=1520530904][/DOUBLEPOST]

Good point! i will check!

So as far as I understand what you mean the circle around the ball is only giving the line....on leg, middle or off or outside leg or off.....it tells you nothing of the subsequent seam movement....so it will tell you in which line it pitches but after that you are on your own!

This is something that genuinely excites me. When batting, I often feel like the ball rarely moves until after it passes the bat. Regardless of the delivery it often feels like sideways movement is not as big an issue as length.

I saw @WealeyH comment about improved AI fields. Will it be possible for you or Wealey to comment on it, especially AI fields in shorter formats? And if possible post a couple of snapshots of the improved AI fields from say an odi?
The fourth innings fields when AI are bowling are still a bit of a mess: the first innings AI innings are very good, they don't chop and change and they will keep things attacking as long as they are taking wickets or keeping the run rate down....if runs are flowing they will act accordingly.....I will see if I can get some fields up.....there are others testing ODI's so they will have to do that.....I think this is probably going to be one of the most challenging areas to get right because of the mechanics of the game and of peoples different perceptions of what the " right" field is though of course somethings are obvious....have a 7-2 field but don't be bowling down leg for example
