Ashes Cricket General Discussion

Heres the England wheel from their "innings": its a very very sorry sight!

I'm probably the same, my average batting is usually good enough considering I rarely have a problem getting wickets (although I have primarily been playing 50 overs on this game and get five or six in the powerplay). Hopefully the change won't be too drastic but I am looking forward to the challenge.

Folks, a quick question... is it possible to belt big hundreds and bat like Steve Smith during the Ashes series on flattish surfaces? Would love to have a balanced game where you have to earn every run on a seaming/bowler friendly track but at the same time be able to flog the bowling and run the bowlers into the ground on a dead track.

Someone who can bat will need to answer that one but during an innings it can get easier to bat depending on conditions. I can give it a go tomorrow: what in game conditions would the best for that: sunny, hard pristine no cracks?

I think Dry pitches tend to be a bit more batting friendly. Although this is another area where some clarification would be welcomed from BA.

If possible do try to get the batting related feedback from folks who prefer to bat - someone like @grkrama - and pass it along to us. Would love to hear that it's still possible to get the big scores and daddy hundreds, and as @wasteyouryouth noted if possible also let us know which conditions are more suited to big totals and which ones will make you look like an out of form Gary Ballance :p

Did you see my post about that ? You mean the circle around the ball?

So the circle gives you info about the line Of the initial ball before pitching...after pitching it can seam in or out.....

Ah sorry I managed to miss your first post, thanks for doing that though, I really appreciate it

Personally I like random, providing it's within the realms of realism in relation to the ground/country I'm playing. It would just be nice to be able to have a bit more clarification about what to expect from pitch conditions. Of course it would also be nice to be able to see the conditions (randomly selected) before finalising a team selection.

And this is what I wanted to know along with the impact on batting. I would love for Ashes Cricket to have a balance between being able to score easily in certain conditions to having to scrounge around for a run in others. That way conditions would matter and also allow users to set the match conditions accordingly depending on what their preferences are.

As an example I would love to have a 5 match series with two matches in bowling friendly conditions where a 220ish is a good score, one match on an absolute road where a 650 trumps a 550 (something like Adelaide in the past - not the night Test with pink ball) and two others somewhere in the middle where the par score is in the range of 300-400. That's why would love to hear that you can bat and score runs as per conditions - ranging from a scratchy 20 to a double ton.

There is a different type of Gary Ballance?

Touche!

we've seen the incremental improvement / feedback in tennis and there's no reason not to do that with cricket beyond appetite. we're low hanging fruit with nowhere to go, so they think we'll just take it, and are broadly right in that assessment, unfortunately. but it won't make a better game.

Total bullshit. Anyone that knows the staff at BA and deals with them directly understands that we take no one for granted.

AO Tennis has the advantage of "Rapid Patches" scheme introduced by both Sony and Xbox this year - Ashes does not have that advantage, it must be a longer, larger process, as it has been for all of the other games we have produced to that date.

First post since December and what a doozy!

Take a second to publicly thank the beta team for their hard work? Assure the community that your commitment to support the game hasn't changed? Maybe say anything positive at all? Nope, someone posted something you don't like so you have to come take a shit on them.

Just stay away mate, you'll probably live longer.

AO has "RAPID PATCHES" system implemented while Ashes Cricket does not ... without communication you cannot know that. That is a high-level detail that only producing company knows not common game buyers. So when you tell AO enjoys "Rapid Patches" and Ashes does not is not a game buyers concern to be very honest. A normal layman does not know that. Its like going into a business meeting with stakeholders and explaining hardcore java/python code.. There is 99% chance none of the stakeholders are going to understand. They ask for results not the process behind it.

Exactly BA and MattW in total have 69 posts out of 7000 in this specific thread. That is little less than 1%. A little more communication is what the community deserves.

Just wondering if I could get feedback from beta team about the unorthodox shots are they more realistic and is fielding/catching improved
Will the academy get updated so we can make players look realistic with tones/skin colour, more hairstyles, breads, more equipment like thigh guards/ rib protecter and age players
Can you tell us what other things are getting improved or added in the patch
