To be honest I don't see any particular point in waiting for Manly to confirm his role. We may as well get on with day 1.

?Ashes to Ashes? read the invite. They didn?t quite get the crowd they expected. The autograph hunter was first to arrive. That was normal at least.

He sat propped at the bar. ?Aren?t you dead? You?re not real. Am I real?? He had another one and found a willing drinking partner.

The man liked to make an entrance. On this occasion his appearance raised eyebrows but not smiles. Scowling he headed for the bar as well.

Sitting in the corner felt safe. From there he could watch people arrive. He didn?t recognise the woman at all but then again why would he?

Fourth paragraph suggests a watcher or a tracker. Maybe some sort of female character who is Mafia.
