Australia in Bangladesh, April 2011

^^ No, they wanted to stay not out till the end of the innings after those 58 and 78 all-outs.:facepalm TBH they should have at least tried to chase the total when Shakib and Tamim were at the crease. They had firepower with the bat at the end in Mashrafe Mortaza and to a lesser extent Shafiul so I don't know why they didn't go for it.:mad

Meh both are part time bowlers, if it gives Clarke another option then good on him assuming White keeps his spot in the side.

No one (Dussey) is part-time capable of giving Clarke wickets & possibly on the odd occasion even tie teams down. The other (White) is a part-timer whose only would be in making the oppositions run-rate increase.

Clarke can find better experiments than trying to make White bowl again.

Mitch looked really good with the ball - his line was fantastic. Possibly the most consistent lines I've ever seen from him. I wonder if Craig McDermott's touch is responsible for it. If so, then give the man the bowling coach job right now - he's done what Cooley never was able to.

maybe, but to be perfectly honest I'd say it was more likely the complete lack of pressure upon him. could be wrong but history suggests that's the case.

had a weird dream last night, looked at the TV and Ponting was coming in with furious look on his face at 76/6 chasing a paltry 150ish score against bangladesh.

Yeah I'm not sure. Sometimes Mitch has done really well under pressure eg. SA tour of 09, Perth Test this summer coming back from being dropped. Other times he's failed eg. 2009 Ashes or the other 3 Ashes Tests he played last summer.

Anyway, I wasn't really too worried how Bangladesh played him (:p) just more interested in what he was producing. He bowled one wayward, 'normal Mitch' over, but the rest was really nice and straight which is a bit unusual. Hopefully it continues.

I don't really understand bangladesh's top order batsmen, they just don't seem to value their wickets.

imrul kayes showed he could dig in over the world cup, notably though it was always after Iqbal fell early. It's like they allow themselves to lose 1 or 2 wickets in the first 10 overs, and not until then do they start showing any tact.

it's all very well to say they're crap, but consistently it's their lower order that makes runs. maybe if they started matches resolving to get through the first 10 for no loss they might actually start doing it.
I've never understood why their best batsmen seem to be something like 1, then 5,6,7 or 8. I know it's a bit of a clich? in ODIs, but I'd figure there's much more value to be had from Mushfiqur as a top order player.

Zunaed Siddique was chastised and perhaps ostracised for trying to be a bit more positive at the crease, but it seemed like exactly what they needed. Batting is simple, if you see a ball that you've got a good shot for, you play the shot. You can refine your shots and be a bit more careful at times, but even top order players have to be looking to score. History also suggests that it's easier to temper a young firebrand than it is to take a skeleton and dress him up.

Australia should have sent the under 15 team. If so, match could have being more entertaining. Why god why!!! Bangladesh is playing test and Ireland can’t even play in 2015 world cup :facepalm

Right on angry. Shakib - 'the world's best allrounder' - is in one of the world's worser teams yet he often comes on as 5th bowler and bats at #5 or even #6. Seems weird - he should be taking more responsibility for sure.

He looked ill though in that 1st game when he was batting and I wouldn't be surprised if that contributed to his slowness.

After 10 years of test cricket, Bangladesh have played 163 ODIs with test nations other then Zimbabwe..

Won -17
Lost - 146

Call me stupid but if Ireland play the same number of matches with above teams, I don’t think they will do that bad for sure

No matter what they do from here, Imrul Kayes has cost them. Not only did he play awfully and should have given out off his glove, but when he did time the ball, it was straight to the man. Shahriar Nafees hasn't played the classiest innings, but at least he's found some gaps.

White finally got dropped! Hastings is proving to be a valuable addition to the side, just a shame we didn't go for this lineup in the WC.

Imrul Kayes - dud alert. Good to see Fergy in the side. We'd take Shakib, he'd go nicely with a four pronged pace attack.

Well Let him be in B'desh ;p Another pathetic performance by the BD batting line up when they fell there is no one who can save them

I'm trying to think of a team Shakib wouldn't get into. Someone who bats at 6 and is an awesome spin bowler as well is something most teams would die for. The only teams he could possibly not make would be Sri Lanka (because of their natural spin talent) and New Zealand (because of Vettori). India as well possibly.

He could probably get into those 2 sides on his batting especially the ODI side.

Nice seeing Smith back in the wickets, wouldn't mind seeing him at 5 and Ferguson at 4 or even 3 to give both a better knock.
