Bangladesh have done themselves proud but i bet they are crestfallen lot. I really hope for them that they consider this as a moral victory and build on this by comming hard again in 2nd match as well as future matches, rather than go backwards. They might not play out of their skins again for a while, but what we want to see is atleast the apply themselves to best of their ability, they got some talented lads but none of them really applied themselves in 2nd innings.

Phew close match this though, we getting alot of this from our side of late, and had Bangla managed the win, they would've prolly declared a National Holiday !

Punter captained much better in the second innings

Can't have ONE slip for Brett Lee, or Gillespie for that matter when 5 edges go past there with a swinging new ball mate..

There are some parts that need working on in his captaincy (field placings) but his bowling changes were much better and he seemed to have more confidence in bowling guys for a lot longer.

This was a pretty tense match. What an embarrasment it would have been if Australia would have lost the match. And Mortaza dropped a catch. Although the required runs wasn't that much, but still with Ponting in the dressing room Bangladesh could have put serious pressure on the batsmen.

But Bangladesh is really progressing towards the right direction.

Nice fitting signatures of Irottev and Cricket_60. :)

I dont like Pontings captaincy one bit.
Warne,Gilly and Hussey would make better captains.
He has no idea how to work his bowlers and far too often looks to lee and warne even when they are having shockers.

Cant really take it off ponting though because his batting since captaincy has been awesome.
He has taken it upon himself to make sure he puts the aussies in winning positions with his bat.
Hes doing a wonderful job at leading by example.

As for slips i didnt get too see any of todays play, but from day 2 onwards there was absolutely no point having any slips except to the spinners.
Absolutely nothing was carrying to slips.
The only use for slips would be to stop balls going for 4 through there not for catches.

I definitely agree Warne should be captain. His cricket brain is brilliant. Ponting is still young though, and he can learn a lot from Warne if he wants to.

lol, I did over estimate his age a little then :)

He's young compared to the average age of our team now :p He should still have 4-5 years left in him.

If you guys are talking about Ponting, he is 31 years old. With this form he can break some records.

Ponting's been in phenomenal form, he has been scoring centuries probably about every series in the past few months. Australia should consider giving someone else captaincy, anyhow, because it should only boost Ponting's form further, if he doesn't have to think about anything but his batting and fielding.

I really think that Gilchrist should replace the Punter.
It was Gilly who won them the Final Frontier,if you remember.

I think Australia should consider giving up Test Cricket, I mean if they can only scrape a win against a side who they deem so poor that they should not be playing (well publicised) then perhaps the Aussies should look at themselves.

you're being too crictical, its just an odd test. Alteast, this performance will give other teams (England, India and Pakistan) to fancy their chances when the play Australia. Its good to have competition, and also good to see Aussie dominance starting to decline (beginning of the end).

Dizzy Gillespie came back firing and is looking good.

I think everyone is getting too confident about Gillespie. Just becuase he took 5 wickets againt Bangladesh it doesn't mean he won't get smashed around by England again in the Ashes. We'll have to see how he does against higher ranked teams.

Shhhh, we're trying to lull them into a false sense of security ;) If McGrath and Warne are fit and firing come the Ashes, we'll need a bowler who takes 3 wickets at the cost of 100 each :p

Although to be fair to Dizzy, I think that if you consider his career as a whole, the Ashes was the blip or anomoly. I would expect him to perform a lot better on home soil if given the chance. Especially since if he didn't that would be the end of his international career.
