Yeah, India Sr. trailed by 89 runs on Day 2. Sourav said selection will be on form.
Dravid(22) and Laxman's(16) failure was the most dissapointing as it can't get worse, but Chopra(18), Sehwag(6) and Yuvraj(14) don't look like returning to form.
Ganguly(65) was the best and Zaheer got 3 wickets and Irfan 2. But it was a very poor failure.
But well done to India A anyway :clap , they could give India an eye-opener, so go India A :cheer

Score Day 3 - Lunch

India A 302(Sriram 125) & 166/2 (52.0 ov) (Jadhav 80 n.o., Kaif 54 n.o.)
India Seniors 213(Ganguly 65)

India A lead by 255 runs with 8 wickets remaining...

btw, I hope Aussies get outplayed by Mumbai. They have lost to Mumbai earlier as well(though that team had Sachin), I think Mumbai have some good players in Bahutule, Kambli, and even Agarkar will play...

btw, if Sachin gets fit on the eve of First Test, should he be rushed in? What if he passes the fitness test without injury being healed completely?(like Zaheer did) Also, that may further add to his injury.

Kaif has made a fine century in this match. I guess he is the right candidate to fill Sachin's place in the team if Sachin is unfit for the first match. His fielding is a plus too. I guess we can still persist with Sehwag and Yuvraj as openers for the first match atleast and then if they fail then maybe bring in Gambhir and Chopra or worse comes to worst P. Patel.

Sachin should not be rushed in. Everyday he plays from now on would be taking toll on his elbow. He should only play if the doctors tell him that he is 100% fit. Maybe he can use a slightly lighter bat from on too.

Really you say so? Wow ur the man! :D
But what players play for them? I only saw unknow players on rest of India team...so are they any known players on the senior team?

it's just a practice game, seniors is not a official team. only a way to have regular players (from last few seasons) in one team to play against probables.

Australia vs. Mumbai

Matty Hayden made a good impression with a powerful 67 against Mumbai. He is my favorite batsman (after the S. Tendulkar of old days).

It was surprising to see no Kasprowicz in the team. May be B. Lee's performance in this match will decide whether B. Lee will get a preference over Kasper. N. Hauritz would be a good person to watch too. I hope the Mumbai bowlers are able to bowl out the Aussies early tomorrow. It would help Team India if the Aussies go victoryless in to the first test.

Good to see Sehwag, Kaif, Yuvraj getting some runs..though the bowling attack nowhere near what they'll face in the tests. mind games continuing with Sachin named in the squad. and will we see Sehwag-Yuvraj opening in first test? Aussies too looking good as expected in their match.

McGrath LBWs

Looks like McGrath will try to use the ball that cuts back in sharply to a right handed batsmen often against the Indians in the test series. His LBWs against Mumbai by using the similar kind of deliveries provide some proof of this strategy.

He got Tendulkar, SS Das in similar manner in 2001 test series. Lets hope that the Indian batsmen are prepared for it.

Good to see Yuvi and Sehwag back in the runs. The India A bowling was nowhere near the Australian atteck and Yuvi and Sehwag must realize that. The first test will be crucial as if they strike form in the first test they will have overcome the mental block.

In other Aus-Mum match, really felt bad when Kambli was given out at very end of the day. Hope that Muzumdar scores a big ton and other batsmen provide him support tomorrow.

Sachin very doubtful

Andrew Leipus told the press today that Sachin Tendulkar is very doubtful to play in the first test against Australia that begins on 6th October. Let's hope Kaif or anybody who replaces Tendulkar does a reasonable job.

Australia coach has meanwhile, said that the wicket for the first test looks "terrible". Curator thinks that the wicket will hold true for 3 days and then start acting weird. That means the toss will play an important role as whoever bats last on this "terrible" pitch will also have a "terrible" time batting.

Yeah, typical Indian wicket- everyone knows the reason for their massive home advantage

Brad,
one team is always going to have home advantage :) like Aussies have at Waca/gabba :D

Hmm.. Do you remember the pitches new zealand had prepared when India toured NZ just before WC2003?

Sachin Tendulkar's guru Ramakant Acherekar has advised Tendulkar to use a lighter bat if he wants to prolong his career.

He said that he had advised Tendulkar to use a lighter bat many times before too but Sachin doesn't listen to him. He said we will keep on requesting Sachin to use a lighter bat even if Sachin keeps refusing. Acharekar said Azhar's light weight bat enabled Azhar to play for a long time. He also said that Sachin gets out to inswingers because of the heavy bat as the bat does not come down fast enough.

Let's see if Sachin cares to listen to his guru.

Aus vs India

Does anybody know if Sony is telecasting this series in the USA. I see that dishnetwork is not selling this package, so some channel must be doing this...is it Sony?

Please let me know if anyone has any idea!

They're good pitches, not substandard crap- if other teams have a problem with it because they're used to different pitches, that's fine, but we don't go out of our way to make it as hard for them as we possibly can, do we?
