well this is a debut to remember for sure.

Gibbs is a HUGE wicket, not just because of his recent form but because he is easily the side's best batsman.

lets see what warnie can do now the platform has been laid by the quicks.

Well on tv ages ago they said Warne Claimed he cant take wickets without glenn mcgrath lets see if hes right!

Well apparantly he's 30 with a FC bowling average of 30 so it's good to know Aus are thinking long-term.

Still got a good 5 years in him, thats another 2 Ashes. Future enough for me.

Warne has taken wickets without McGrath, he did it in the Ashes.

Good to see Clarke using the conditions to his advantage, and making the most of his opportunities with consistent yet aggressive bowling. Three victims of that calibre would be enough to boost anyone's confidence, let alone a debutant.
And obviously Warne has the ability to take wickets without the support of others, he's proved it plenty of times.

The wicket is the exact opposite of the one the other night - the ball is seaming profusely. It's the sort of wicket that McGrath would have a field day on...Pollock also. The aussies really need to restrict them to a sub 200 score - I can't see it getting any easier for them when they come into bat - they really want to only bat once. I can forsee a really difficult batting period for them this afternoon - hopefully with Pollock missing they won't make too many in roads. The inconsistent bounce will play into Hall and Nel's hands though - looks to be an exciting test over in 3 days.

Our batting lineup is dam solid, it will take some spell of bowling to rip it open. Then you got counter attackers in Symonds, Hussey and Gilly down the order.

South Africa still have plenty to come, I wouldn't start getting cocky just yet.

Yeah, I agree there, they've got plenty of depth with the current two at the crease, Boucher, Hall and Boje who is more than capable with the bat. If they can form a few solid partnerships, get on top of the bowling and start dictating terms, the momentum will switch dramatically. But one step at a time, Australia are well on top at present.

Wow. 5/82! Incredible start from Kaspa and Clark!
This could turn out to be a great start. We could probably get them out at around 150!

I think possiblythey will all be out at the end of the day

If they break Boucher/Prince within a couple of overs then we start heading into the lower order, although they still have some batting.

Clark takes another! :happy Boucher c Gilchrist b Clarke

His bowling has been spot on today.

Clark is on fire. He will have a spot in the test team for sure. Can he get a 5WI on debut? Or even a 10WM?

He definitely has a spot in the team for the rest of the tour now. Hope he gets 5 :)

And it will really boost his confidence etc. He's a great pick for international Cricket.

What a star. Going up 1-0 is always encouraging. Maybe he's not made for ODI and is made for Test?
