Australia Team Discussion

These a childish arguments. This completely butchers each players, doesn't recognized what these players have actually done.

The real part of the Australia A tour gets underway in a couple of hours. Big door opening for several of these players with spots to fill for the UAE series in October. Not too sure why Jhye Richardson is not here unless CA already has him penciled in for the UAE tests. I see batsmen such as Renshaw, Labuchagne, Patterson and Head vying for those vacant batting spots with Tremaine and Paris the pace bowling spots. Lyon's spin partner is also up for grabs with one of Swepson, Agar or Holland to get the nod.

Australia A four-day squad: Mitchell Marsh (c), Alex Carey (vc), Ashton Agar, Brendan Doggett, Peter Handscomb, Travis Head, Jon Holland, Usman Khawaja, Marnus Labuschagne, Michael Neser, Joel Paris, Kurtis Patterson, Matthew Renshaw, Mitch Swepson, Chris Tremain

Bit disappointed with this batting effort, besides Khawaja and Labuschagne, nobody got scores.[DOUBLEPOST=1535883112][/DOUBLEPOST]I would also pick Agar for this UAE tour, he's almost like the perfect all-rounder.

Agree. CA also think he is the perfect all rounder. So begs the question why is he not playing here? I would not have picked three lefties in the first three spots for starters.. also Head at first drop. If Renshaw returns next match then Ussie should bat #3. I prefer Patterson in the middle order. Not sure he has ever opened for the Blues in red ball cricket. Has Labu ever opened for the Bulls? That way we will have a left/right opening combination.

He's never needed to, Burns and Renshaw have been great at the opening position. I just went off looking at the squad, i just noticed it lacked right handed individuals to open. For the time being, i would have,
1. Matthew Renshaw (if not fit, Carey)
2. Usman Khawaja
3. Marnus Labuschagne
4. Kurtis Patterson
5. Peter Handscomb
6. Mitchell Marsh (if Renshaw not fit, Head)
7. Alex Carey (If Renshaw not fit, Marsh)
8. Ashton Agar
9. Micheal Neser or Joel Paris, either or.
10. Chris Tremain (Brendan Dogget can also go there, but would prefer Tremain.)
11. Mitchell Swepson (Jon Holland can also go here, but i would give Sweppo a chance.

I also realize i should of posted this into the other thread, but oh wells. (Because its the A team)

Right now, my XI for the UAE tour would be,
1. Joe Burns
2. Matthew Renshaw
3. Usman Khawaja
4. Shaun Marsh
5. Marnus Labuschagne
6. Mitchell Marsh
7. Tim Paine
8. Ashton Agar
9. Mitchell Starc
10. Chris Tremain
11. Nathan Lyon

Other players in squad:
Glenn Maxwell
Peter Handsomb
Micheal Neser
Mitchell Swepson (Jon Holland can jump along as well)

I think they should be investing more into Sweppo than Jon Holland, much rather develop the youngster.

Sorry @41 FC batting average beats @35. My choice Kurtis Patterson over Labuchagne.. Hell another leftie. Where are all the quality right handers in this country? Agree about Sweppo. There is another promising leggie at home in Daniel Fallins.. also being invested in by CA. I also would have had Jack "the Beast" Wildermuth here over Neser to be brutally honest.

Terrific stand between neser and Labu but Kuldeep just cleaned up Labu (34) @southafrican ready for Australian test team

Aus 237 for 7 = 207 / 7

Australia squad for UAE Test Series: Tim Paine (capt, wk), Ashton Agar, Brendan Doggett, Aaron Finch, Travis Head, Jon Holland, Usman Khawaja, Marnus Labuschagne, Nathan Lyon, Mitchell Marsh, Shaun Marsh, Michael Neser, Matthew Renshaw, Peter Siddle, Mitchell Starc.

How are Neser and Doggett considered more deserving of a first Test cap over Chris Tremain. The Dubbo born right armer has been terrific the past three domestic seasons.. capped off by being the chief wicket taker in 2017/18 Shield. The selectors have missed a trick not picking the promising Jyhe Richardson. Also what has happened to Kane Richardson. He has a CA contract yet has not been seen in Aussie colors in any formats lately. Must be injured.

The most bewildering selection is that of Aaron Finch. C'mon you nongs Finchy is a specialist white ball batsman. While I am pleased for Labu I question why a man with a stronger First Class average in Kurtis Patterson was omitted.

What a moment for Aaron Finch.

Chairman of selectors Trevor Hohns needs to explain how Chris Tremain did not make this side.
Career stats 32 First Class m., 114 wk @ 24. 2017/18- 10m. 51 wk @21. With Josh hazlewood and Patrick Cummins out injured this would have been the perfect time to blood Tremain. Instead they resurrect the career of Peter Siddle and give an indigenous bowler in Brendon Doggett the nod. Compare both Siddle and Doggett 2017/18 stats to those of Tremain.
Siddle: 9m. 24w @39. Doggett: 7m 28w @ 27. Chalk and cheese.

Close but no one can expect Siddle pick over Jhe Richardson.
5 uncapped selected including Head,Labu,Neser,Finch,Doggett.[DOUBLEPOST=1536721837][/DOUBLEPOST]
