Cricket Australia Announce Warne To Take Over As Coach

Will Warne be as good a coach as he was spinner?

Former Australian spin great Shane Warne today has been announced coach of Cricket Australia due to Tim Nielsen announcing that he wants to go back and spend time with his family.

This could hold Australia in a bad place for the upcoming ODI series against South Africa but Warne believes his aggressive mentality will help Australia get over the "flowers" as he calls them.It is expected that their will be a permanent spinner in all forms of the games a Warne is a great believer of needing a spinner for those crucial moments in a match.

Shane only knew about the job becoming available 20 hours ago that was enough time for him to cash in his poker chips and head down to Australia where he needs to prepare to get back on another plane to go to South Africa. When Warney was asked about the opener situation for Australia in the ODI form of the game warne suggested that it could be Watson and Marsh/Hughes.When asked about the spinners for Test,ODI's and 20/20's Warne said he believed Hauritz had the spot in Tests and ODI's but wasn't sure about 20/20's.

Nathan Hauritz can expect more game time with Warne as coach.

Reporter: Shane so this closes the door on you making a comeback then?

Warne: The door was closed before i took the job mate

Reporter: Will Australia be a more aggressive team with you as coach?

Warne: Let me just say that they wont be a team that anyone can push over like i feel they have been in recent times.

Reporter:Say England offered you a job as their coach before Australia offered you the job would you off taken it?

Warne: I would think about it but then decline as I'm a loyal Aussie unlike Buchanan.

Reporter: How long till you and this team can become as fearful as they were 3 years ago?

Warne: That's not up to me its up to the players

Reporter: Ok Warney best of luck

Warne: Cheers

Australia have beat a strong South African side by 106 runs. Australia now lead the 5 match series 1-0.Australia won the toss and elected to bat on a pitch that offered nothing to seam bowlers.

South Africa got of to a good start by removing ODI debutant Phil Hughes for 3.Steady partnerships from the next four pairs gave Australia the perfect launch pad for an assault in the last 10 overs.Starts from Watson,Clarke,Hussey and Ferguson was all Australia needed as they had ponting at the other end pushing his way to a big score.A 105 run partnership between Ponting and Ferguson(48 of 48balls) allowed Australia to reach the 300 mark and then go on to get a final score of 327.Ponting finished on 156 from 128 balls and gave South Africa absolutely no chances.

South Africa started their inning in style putting on a 99 run partnership in no time.Johnson soon bowled Smith with a yorker after bowling short balls at Smith for 1-2 overs. South Africa continued to push towards Australia's score at a good pace but lost wickets to regularly.Hauritz took the wickets of two of the top four batsmen for South Africa but was very expensive.South Africa seemed to be going well when they reached 4/175 but they collapsed loosing 6/46 in quick time and finally being out for 221.

Hughes cements his place in ODI team but South Africa fight back

AB De Villiers guides South Africa to win

The day started with Australia winning the toss and electing to bat on a sunny day.

Steyn got South Africa of to a good start by getting Watson caught in the slips for 7.Hughes and Ponting then put together a good solid partnership on a pitch that offered nothing to the bowlers.Ponting soon played onto his stumps from trying a pull shot but played it too early.Michael Clarke then fell next ball to Kallis but it was Hughes and Hussey who pushed on from there. A long and quick 223 run partnership finally came to a close but both batsmen had already posted centuries.Hughes finished on 157 and Hussey ended on 100 not out.

South Africa's openers again got them of to a good start putting on a 68 run partnership before Amla was caught in the gully from the bowling of Watson.Johnson then got into the action picking up the wickets of Smith and Duminy within two overs.24 runs between the 4th and 5th partnerships for South Africa and they were in trouble at 5/116.De Villiers and Morkel never looked in doubt from there pushing singles when they pleased and then the odd boundary.De Villiers brang up his hundred while Albie Morkel ended up on 89 from 82 balls.

Aus 4/298
Hughes 157 - Kallis 2/57
Hussey 100* - Steyn 1/73

RSA 5/300
De Villiers 112* - Johnson 3/35
A.Morkel 89* - Watson 2/58

RSA win by 5 wickets
Man Of The Match P.Hughes

If Albie Morkel scored a ton, it would have been 2 centuries for each team. De Villiers and Morkel batted well to secure a hard fought victory.

Nice work, kiu.
