Australia tour of New Zealand 2010

Convincing win for Australia, they were just too quick with the ball for our top order. Yes Ross Taylor got a shocker but he shouldn't have to score all the runs for New Zealand every game. Personally I don't think Ingram will cut it in the shorter forms of the game, he really relies on waiting for the right balls to hit (and you can't do that in 20/20 cricket).

I'll say it again though, we are very lucky Tait and Nannes aren't in the one day teams.

At least I won on vbookie lol.

Australia were favorites and played like them. They won pretty comfortably. There were some good and not good signs from us. Ingram looked out of srts 2 off 10 kind of set a bad tone for us. That's one of the key moments. Taylor 's decision a key moment. Hopkins getting out and the collapse at the end another. There was some good stuff at times but not enough. Another 20-30 runs and it coulda been a thriller. Hopefully for CHCH the top order fires a bit better.

Tait's ball to McCullum was excellent - it swung a nice amount and at that pace McCullum did well to nick it really. Set the tone for the innings.

Nice sig, Irrotev :p

1 game in. 6 to go.

I wrote a big post but typical planetcricket didn't post it and went down.

Basically:

Well done AUS. They were favorites and played like it. We were outplayed today but there's another 6 OD games yet. Once we face a bit more of the bowlers hopefully we'll become more comfortable.

McCullum got a really good ball which swung and it set the tone. Ingram was just too slow. 2 off 10. Taylor, well need I say anything. Our batting relies on him half the time and when he gets a shocker it hurts us pretty bad. Guptill played ok, just never got into top gear. Franklin is too high at 5, need a Styris in there to add depth to the batting and experience. Oram was too low, Hopkins shouldn't be in the side. I don't think we'll make many changes for the next game because we probably can't, at least the ODI squad looks a bit better.

Just about everyone on that list can hit 145 consistently though. I think once you get to 149-155 area that extra 5-10ks can create problems for event decent batsman. The chance for error goes up and the ball tends to carry a lot more.
I mean there are a lot of bowlers who can bowl effort balls of 145-150 quite a lot, but their stock ball is usually closer to 140. The ones that bowl an abundance of stock balls at 145 or quicker are still a little less common.

Tait
Nannes
Bond
Aamer
Lee (Maybe)
Broad
Steyn
Morkel (sometimes)
Johnson
Roach
Edwards
Taylor (eh maybe)

Siddle can get 150 which then leads to him breaking down.
Nice to see our middle order not collapsing although our collapses seem to occur when we are batting first and Clarke has to set a pace not follow a relatively simple one.

let Nannes play ODI!!!! :mad:

Definately, he'd be playing ODIs fot every other nations ATM. Very weird why AUS selectors just see him as a T20 specialist.

War added 5 Minutes and 59 Seconds later...

I never seen Broad bowl 150, but if he ever did the speed guns must have been broken, since he nowhere near that speed.

I'd say Jermone Taylor at hsi fastest around around 145-147 to be honest, plus as already mentioned Siddle has touched 150 on occassions to date.

Broad has touched high 140's plenty. Im pretty sure he touched 150, King P will know.

Hmarka added 1 Minutes and 11 Seconds later...

If it was a few years ago I would have added Flintoff to the mix.

I've seen over 90% of Broads internationals. He is 140-144k's bowler genreally, with the odd ball over 90 mph (90-92).

The times he touched 150 where definately speed guns glitches, since he is certainly not that fast.

Well either way, he is certainly capable of reaching those speeds, don't be surprised if he throws down some heat down under.

Thats the thing - he isn't. Broad clocking 150 just aint right, since surely Braod bowling clocking 150 wont be the feel the same for a batsman as Tait or Bond clocking 150. Thats why i saw everytime Broad may have clocked 150,it had to have been an error.

The idea of your list is basically the bowlers who in spells consistently are around 150 kmph's - Broad certainly isn't part of that group.
