Lol Hopes is pushing it a bit far. McDonald would clearly be in the box seat if we are looking for that medium pace all rounder. But with Watson we don't need another pace all rounder, could use another spinning all rounder given Katich still struggles with his shoulder after bowling.

White is nowhere near selection. Just a one day batsman. Smith has a much better technique than White, and i'm not really a fan of Smith. North is 20 times the better batsman than White, its just White's big hitting which seems to impress people, forgetting the fact that he rarely does it at FC level. Have any of you guys actually watched a FC match involving White?

its actually Whites performance in the ODIs against India that impressed me, the lack of him just going out and trying to bash everything was the thing that impressed me. He went out and took time to apply himself and got the Aussies out of trouble a couple of times.
Cant hurt to give the guy a chance since North hasn't been doing what the selectors thought he could.

Known initially as a T20 specialist, cannot even get his innings started. Was a complete waste in the SA series.
And if you look closer to his technique, I mean.... it is so horrible. He can't even keep his eyes open before the bowler runs upto his mark :laugh

I really think White could do a huge job for the Aussies but he just aint showing it at FC level in the 4 day games. North has such a solid technique, White would be found out so easily. One only has to watch those first few innings in England, he looked atrocious against the new ball at 3, feet not moving, if that was a test match he wouldnt have made 10. and if he bats at 6 he'll face the 2nd new ball plenty. One day form should NEVER equal test form. Its classic Bevan theory.

I guess the Aussies can go with that Smith kid but what has he done? jack ████.
Agreed that ODI form should never equal test form but for a while now that's how allot of these batsman got picked for the test team. By performing in ODIs, if they prove that they have what it takes to perform in ODIs there is a good chance they will get selected to the test team.

I wouldn't go for him at all, I would go for a proven performer, Sir Phillip Hughes
and once again the question comes, where would you bat him?
507 runs at 46 including one 100 and two 50s. You can say hes inexperienced but hes definitely done all can batting at 7.

Well if the Aussie selectors feel comfortable with throwing that kid into test matches this early then who am I to say otherwise.
