Australia tour of West Indies

A spinner will play, just that he is the wrong choice in my mind and based on our regional season for the last 2-3 years, Benn is nothing compare to Jaggs or Dave Mohammed, Dave in 9 innings in Test has 13 wickets @ 51.38 and an Econ of 3.76, but also he can swing the willow, in 8 innings: avg. 32.14 and SR of 71.65.
We have been known to kill and bury our spinners without cause, there was a Trini (again) called Dinanath Ramnarine, about 10 years back, played 12 test took 45 wickets @ 30.73, with an Econ of 2.37, today this man would have been a seasoned spin bowler, and we bury him, today I see we have fast bowlers with worst averages.

It seems we only take spinners to the subcontinent and play them there because the conditions suit them and they do ok against some of the best players of spin and than when the team plays at home its no spinners.

Oh for the record, this will be the first test match on this new grounds at, The Sir Vivian Richards Stadium. 6 World Cup matches were played there in 2007, but this will be the first test, so who knows how it will play, and what kind of effect this will have on the match.

Massive blow losing Hayden for the whole tour. Hussey has to open and move Katich down the order. That will give Katich 2 games to show he is the backup batsmen rather than Hodge.

Yes, I like that idea. But you would have to play him at 5.

If someone offers ridiculous odds, I'll put money down for Clarke opening.

Doesn't that article on Cricinfo say that Katich will remain in the team with Hodge being left out for Clarkey? I imagine Katich will still open then. Hope he suceeds.

No chance of Jaques being dropped before the end of this series. We have just lost Hayden and don't have any opener to replace him so dropping Jaques would mean two part time openers. After the series possibly, Johnson the same I hope.

I wouldn't be surprised of Australia sent in Chris Rogers or someone like that.

But you cant drop Jacques after one Test this series. He had a good series against India so he deserves to keep his spot for longer then a few months.

I would love to see Jaques throw away the stodginess and start throwing the bat around.

The Aussies have Noffke and Bollinger with them; they can certainly afford to "rest" or "rotate" Johnson. I think it's an important performance review, use the players who are playing top cricket and see how they do compared to the other guy.
