Australia tour of West Indies

We've already got one.

Michael Clarke, the bloke in your signature is a much superior spinner to Casson who has already taken more International 5fers then Casson ever will.

Clarke is a nothing bowler at the best of times, although he can cause some troubles on a last day spinning pitch.

The way you go on about it makes me want Casson to succeed a lot more than I otherwise care.

Clarke is consistent, I'll give him that. He always seems to be bowling that line into the right hander pitching on off stump just spinning away.

Will be interesting seeing what we do with the ODI lineup.
I would go
Watson
Clarke
Ponting
Hussey
Symonds
David Hussey
Haddin
Hopes
Lee
Clark
Bracken

Picking the bowlers was hard, don't know what our selectors were doing there. Couldn't experiment with anyone and having to choose between Clark and Johnson hmmmm.

That is an extremely long batting line-up. I think Clarke isn't that bad of an opener but Watson doesn't seem to good at the top. Hopes really impressed me when he nearly saved against India in the Commonwealth Bank Final.

I like that lineup aussie1st, but you can almost count on them picking Johnson instead of Clark. Also, perhaps White would be a better choice than Hopes, since that there are 4 other pace bowlers there White would add some more variation to the bowling. Either way it is going to be a very, very long batting lineup. Should be able to rack up some big scores.

yeah a long batting order to prevent a Comm bank series nightmare again .
Clarke and Watson are both good but we will really miss Gilly/Haydos as openers.

Drop Robot, add Marsh. Just give him a go.

Gilly Fan added 2 Minutes and 17 Seconds later...

It feels like Hayden's already retired. :(

How do you think I feel? :(

I'm willing to give Watson a try, he did alright when he was opening last time and went well in the IPL. Marsh could come in for David Hussey pushing Clarke back down. Hopes also did well in the IPL opening so he can open if needed as well.

We may as well bowl David Hussey and Clarke rather than go White again. And his batting was crash hot in the IPL.

With the squad they've taken, they simply have to use either Bomber (it's much shorter to write this than other variants of David Hussey... may have defeated the purpose with this comment...) or White. There is no proper replacement for Hogg, so they're going to want as many slow options as possible, especially with Symonds looking a bit ginger after the 3rd Test.

Watson and Clarke are definitely the most qualified for opening. Watson racked up a spate of good scores in those tournaments in India and Malaysia while he was opening, generally at a run a ball or better once he got going. Clarke might average better down the order, but opening is where he gets to make hundreds. His style of aggression isn't suited to slogging out the death, but it is very suited to tight opening fields.

Hers a blockbuster XI for Aussies:

Shaun Marsh
Brad Haddin
Ricky Ponting
Michael Clarke
Andrew Symonds
Michael Hussey
Shane Watson
Cameroon White
Bret Lee
Nathan Bracken
Stuart Clark

David Hussey over Cameron White any day of the week, and any week of the year etc....
