Australia tour of West Indies

I would guess that Gayle wanted to test the pitch for spin early on, without wasting an over of the main spinner if conditions didn't suit. Gayle's rotations may have helped keep them in the game, drying up runs from one end, where the likes of Edwards can be carted for a lot of runs. Perhaps they got a wicket where orthodox methods would have persisted with the two opening bowlers. Of course, we can't say if the fast bowlers would have taken that and more wickets.

The main disadvatage of the strategy is that those pacemen have to face up eventually. You can't protect the opening bowlers and Benn can't bowl half the innings like a Test. Someone else must stand up.

Ponting out as the runs dry up, well fought.

Sammy's golden arm lures Clarke, Windies gaining momentum.

Is it a big game for Hussey or will he also struggle to adjust to the pace of this pitch?

The dangerous debutant spoons a slow ball off Sammy, this innings is wheeling away from the Australians. However, Marsh showed that there are runs if you can get in and this pair have just enough time to get in and make a partnership. Gayle will be looking to fill in the next few overs so that his best bowlers are free for the final 10.

Momentum is back in Australia's favour as Hussey accumulates and Haddin uses his feet looking for runs. Benn has continued to bowl good balls for no wickets, but Gayle might have over-bowled himself. Taylor and Bravo can bowl much of the final overs, but Edwards has had only a short spell and would have been waiting for a spell.

And the impressive Haddin follows his 50 with a simple catch on the straight boundary, potentially a very good result for the West Indies. White may be aggressive, but he might not have enough time to be effective.

Hussey also finds Pollard at long off, you'd think he was looking for cover there. Good patient innings though, leaves the Aussies on top, expecting 260 and maybe a little hopeful of 270.

White plumb to a bit of cunning from Sarwan, but Lee is happy to hit some runs in his place.

Marsh can do it in international cricket after all, 2 innings and 2 good performances in international cricket. He's not exactly playing against a brilliant team though, the real proof of his talent will come against a proper attack, such as South Africa or India or even England.

Nice knock from Marsh, hes definitely got the makings of a good opener in the ODI arena. Watson is now in a heated battle with Marsh to keep that one opening spot. Especially after his first 2 overs has seen him go worst than White and equal to Johnson. Oh and did I not mention get rid of Johnson!

Boooo, stop throwing cans West Indian fans. He's out!

Why won't the groundstaff clean up the mess?

Ha ha people are getting grabbed by the collar and are being thrown out. :D

Cameron White's bowled well :p Bring in a proper 4th seamer or a mainline batsman. Neither White's batting or bowling is international standard tbh.

you are being too harsh,i am sure he ll do well given a long run.

Johnson must go!

PA why are you always giving Johnson a hard time bro, come on, wouldn't like to see the lad play against Pakistan?? We love him down here, let him bowl, thats how he will learn and better himself. I am certain if they stick with him 3 years from now, persons will be playing a different tune about him. Great guy, we love him, just wish the had at least 2 like him playing :happy:D:hpraise

How more crap games does Johnson have to produce before getting the sack? Not a bad return for Bracken, stole Johnson tailender wickets as well :p

I like Gayle's active captaincy, but he probably needs to chill out a bit, ironic as it is. He does some interesting things during an innings, but it seems like he makes one too many changes. Of course, if he keeps it up he will know a lot more tricks than the average captain.

Gayle is a good captain but he does try too much. I thought bringing Sarwan in after i think Edwards went for a fair few was a bit too much (when Watson and Marsh were batting). I thought Gayle should've put in Benn. Marsh was looking a little tense and the frontline spinner should've been given the ball. No chander so certainly encouraging for the windies.
