Australia tour of West Indies

It annoys me when I sit down to watch the game highlights, knowing the Windies are well on top, the reporter mentions the Aussies were hit with some fiery short bowling and it turns out that a lot of us got out hooking/pulling short balls. Hopefully they would have learnt their lesson for the second innings. TBH I expected the Windies to get on top early in this test, its now down to them whether they can finish the job that so many have failed to do.

Who knows what could have happened if Symonds wasn't given life lines.

But now I think that our tail will get us up to/over 300. Looking forward to watch an hour or so tonight, should be entertaining.

Shouldn't we be hoping Casson comes out and does really well? I think that would be much more positive, considering their isn't exactly much better in the spin department. 4 seamers in all games would be a mistake, spinners are always very valuable. Johnson is a different story, he is bad and we all know we have better waiting, so I don't mind if he gets tonked:p

Good post. Good to see you can accept the decision even though its clearly gone against you and it wasn't the first time. That whole India saga really annoyed me, shows who has the bad attitude in cricket.

when your team losses due to basic mistakes then you will find it different,
also westindies fan should not mind any decisons as even if they got all in their favour they rarely win any tests

Way to bring up an old post haha.

Maybe, but the last thing I would be calling for is a boycott, or sack the ump ;)

Jaques is a great batsman, but Watson is a very valuable player - good with bat and ball.

Why does the scorecard on cricinfo for the tour game have Clarkey listed as "retired out"? Did they pull him out to give others a go?

Man what is that suppose to mean?? What are you honestly saying?? Am asking because am a West Indian, not just a FAN, so please educate me, because you might just say further that am naive when it comes to cricket and because am a fan, a West Indian fan.
Are you saying that bad decisions are not factors in teams winning or losing matches?? Such bad decisions be it for or against, does not influence the out come and result of a match??

He's saying that even with the luck fully on your side, you'd still lose, basically. Which made me LOL a lot.

It is a shame that stress fractures are still rife in the domestic game all over the world despite the advances in video and biomechanical analysis.
As the word stress implies, they are injuries of over-use, so if we are to find them without medical scans, it would have to manifest as some sort of increasing weakness in the bowler's action. Although a lot of bowlers do not get stress fractures, a lot of the best ones do, so there is probably a need for players to get regular check ups, although a player discovered with what they call 'hot spots' in the bone would still have to rest. The big leap is needed in management.

Whatever teams are doing, it seems we can catch them before a bowler is overcome by the pain as Lillee was, but we don't seem to have anything like the 100-pitch concept in baseball for determining what is sustainable output.

I've said before, I think Tait jumped the hedge on this one, because he hasn't succumbed to stress fractures and by taking a recovery break, he might have thinned his workload at the perfect time.

Also, happy birthday Sarwan. Noticed that by accident.

I cant believe that Roach fella... Hes a bowler capable of bowling quicker than Edwards for a longer period of time, I think with the right training he could bowl spells of up to 7 or 8 overs without losing pace. Best prospect in the Windies at the moment (Although there is a 19s bowler who I cant remember the name of that looked very good also)

On the aussie side of things has anyone got any video of Josh Hazelwood

Yeah, it'd be nice if there was a way to get footage of the young players like how the AFL put up TAC Cup footage of potential draft picks. I remember the u-19 WC was on ESPN, but I barely saw any of it.

I think you guys might be thinking of Jason Dawes the young Jamaican fast bowler.

Not purely overuse though. They come from bowling actions which are biomechanically flawed and place undue stress on the body. As I was reading on another forum earlier, this is due to results-first orientated coaching - but I believe that stress fractures have the potential to destroy a fast bowling career to make this results-first orientated redundant. The leap in management, as you suggested, is needed though. I am no medical expert, but I am sure the bones do not simply crack instantly.

Can't rubber stamp Roach for success just yet. Bowling quick in a T20 and bowling quick in an ODI or Test are two very different things. RP Singh is the clear example of someone who bowls 145kph in T20s but 130-135kph in ODIs and Tests. I believe that Roach should speed up his approach to the wicket somewhat too, that has got to put a lot of stress on his body. He is also quite inaccrate too, there were a lot of high full tosses in his spell in the T20.

Not going to lie though, I would like to see him in one of the ODIs or more.

well Roach did take 2 wickets against the Aussies in the last warm up match and was the only on the team that had some reasonable figures.

2 wickets at the death though. He did go for 5.87 runs per over with 5wides and so, these were hardly good figures. Kantasingh had better figures with 10-1-41-1.

Yes Dawes thats him

Whats he got going in his future?
