Australia vs England ODI Series - 7 matches - Sep 4 to Sep 20

Hauritz outbowls the two English spinners again :p
Lee was expensive, he looked good in the first over I saw but he seem to fall apart after that. Didn't do much to suggest he would have done much in the last Test.

At least we held our nerve for a tight win, now we just need to sort the middle stages.

Need Hilfy for the next match;). Ferguson batted very well and is gonna be a good player for us. Paine keeped pretty well after getting run out.

He's not MS Dhoni. He just couldn't find any timing and is in awful form. Was not playing for his average.

Wright was impressive with the bat. Perfect for #7. Just a shame the blokes above him couldn't do their job.

Nah, he's not in terrible form. He just never knew how to play anyway. I think he's showing his true colours against a proper opposition.

A questionable endgame plan by Australia may have gifted England a real chance where they probably should have been finished off. Hopes earlier bowled 5 overs for 14, why was he taken off at that stage? It could have meant valuable pressure later. Then it happened again, Johnson bowled 3 overs for three wickets and with 3 overs remaining right at the crucial stage, he was pulled. Surely not! Lee did bowl better than his figures suggest, but he conceded about a third of his runs in genuine edges. The conditions weren't really the sort to be depending on him indefinitely. Similarly for Bracken, the plan to bowl him at every key moment can hardly last if he can't get wickets. Overall though, a reasonable effort.

OK. Happy I went to bed last night.

Firstly, Clarke is rubbish. He has been rubbish for quite some time, since about the World Cup in 07. Also, Ferguson is god.

It was a very close game...B Lee was expensive, though he bowled well in his early spell, but it was MG Johnson who took wickets and bowled really well. Even J Hopes bowled good 5 overs.

Lee has never been a good death bowler, always seems to leak runs either through edges or just plain bad line and length. Bracken is definitely becoming a worry, this isn't the same bowler that was in the top 3 ODI bowlers. Teams seem to have figured him out and no longer fall to his cutters.

I don't know why Clarke bowled himself either, only Bracken bowled all his overs.

Swann, but probably not Rashid considering the circumstances at the time. Hauritz is more experienced and came on in much easier circumstances with England only scoring 18 runs in the 2nd Powerplay. Rashid, as I said, could have picked up a couple of wickets if he had the luck. He was exceptional to Clarke, who is perhaps the best player of spin in the world.

Rashid did well and yes he bowled well to Clarke but the way Clarke was playing Jason Krejza would have looked awesome against him. Rashid bowled well but he certainly could have been picked off for more singles by Clarke. Ferguson, White and Watson all managed to pick up singles fairly regularly off Rashid.

I thought he bowled well to Clarke. Whenever Clarke came down the pitch Rashid would see him coming and drop his length back a fraction, Clarke wasn't to the pitch of the ball and couldn't hit through the leg-side against the spin, so all he could do was hit it straight back to the bowler.

Considering Rashid's young age and experience bowling to a top player of spin, it's a good effort. Bearing in mind that he came into the attack during the Powerplay and Australia were building momentum and he quickly slowed the scoring rate down. In the end he only bowled about two bad balls in his ten overs.

Yea he did well in anticipating Clarke coming down the wicket. You couldn't ask much more of the kids except maybe a wicket but other than that he did as well as could be expected. I just expected a player of Clarke's class to be hitting the gaps a lot more. He had a poor game all round, if he continues to bat at this rate his ODI spot should come under pressure but it more than likely won't which will continue to see us fall in ODIs.

He also bowled nice and straight to Clarke giving him no room to hit him through the off-side, so he had to play straight or risk playing against the turn. Rashid's fielding off his own bowling also played a part and he might of saved a few more runs if long-off was brought up.

Clarke or Ferguson to their credit weren't tempted to play across the line. If Adil was bowling in the second innings he would of had some wickets to his credit, which he deserved.
