Australia

Selectors aren't usually ones to admit they are wrong so will they bring back Hussey all but saying he should never have been ruled out in the first place. And given how easy it has been to bring in players from outside the squad, I really don't see the need for Paine. All they had to do was have Paine with the squad and if Haddin was injured then Paine can come straight in.

From what I remember of Ferguson vs Chawla he only played 1 false shot - the one that got him out.

What about the two balls that he edged just wide off first slip (Virat Kohli) ?? And he is more or less a Cameron White type of cricketer who gets off to a very slow start regarding his first 15 runs at the least . On the contrary , you very well know how Hussey frustrates the opposition by taking singles/doubles from ball one thereby maintaining a SR of 90+ on a consistent basis which is heavily crucial at the flat SC tracks . Plus the addition of Hussey is going to make any opposition nervy , something that you just can't expect from the likes of Callum or Doherty or whomsoever you would favour in this case .

Afridi is a spinner and the leading wicket taker at that.

I don't consider bowlers who often clock 125,115 kmph as spinners . Thats why i deliberately mentioned him as a pacer . :p
So what about Mitch , Roach , Malinga or even Bresnan for this matter ?? Pacers have been dominant than spinners , no denying that .

So Lee is a medium pace bowler because he bowls 110km/h slower balls? It is his change in pace, his stock ball is his 90km/h spinenrs. And for your info the top 5 wicket takers
Afridi
Roach
Johnson
Benn
Tahir

3 spinners, 2 pacemen how exactly have 'Pacers have been dominant than spinners'? Last time I checked 3 > 2

Slightly misleading statistics seeing as Tahir has the same number of wickets as Southee, Baidwan and Bresnan, who all bowl pace

Tahir has 1 game up his sleeve and the better average. Either way there is no conclusive proof thus far to say spin has been less effective than pace. You also have to take into account teams usually play 3 pacemen to 1 spinner, so that is a 3 to 1 ratio between pace and spinners. So obviously with more pacemen playing the WC there is bound to be a lot of pacemen floating around with wickets compared to spinners.

The stats are massively misleading with so many bowlers averaging under 10. They don't say much about pace versus spin so much as good bowling versus bad batsmen.

Experience is a bit overrated in my books. Example? Before a couple of days ago, how many games had Kevin O'Brien played in India? ZERO. How many times had he batted under lights in an ODI? ONCE - the previous match v Bangladesh. I like Mike Hussey and he's in the best XI for sure, but I'm also quite excited about Ferguson and I think we can still win this World Cup without Mr Cricket.

And there were a few guys who got '*****' by Chawla in the warmup. Michael Clarke never found the middle of the bat in the few balls he faced from Chawla. Ponting and Paine both could have been out LBW and Ponting was almost bowled when he didnt' pick the delivery.

From what I remember of Ferguson vs Chawla he only played 1 false shot - the one that got him out.

Indeed. But the selectors messed things up here as we both know. Hussey should have been in the squad all along, so now after Dougy got injured, the replacement for him would be simple call up for Nannes. Now we have all this confusion, since regardless if we have confidence in Ferguson, Huss will be missed.

So Finally, Hussey is back in the team. A really big boost to Australian middle order which looked pretty fragile.

Mr. Cricket and Dirk Nannes both has been shipped :D

Strange going on with the selectors but great to have Hussey back in their. Will be interesting seeing who they put him in the side for given our next 2 matches are against the associates. And at least Siddle wasn't picked as the backup bowler.

Yes, so glad Hussey's back :D Would have been such a shame if one of the most exciting ODI players missed this WC.
