Australia

Today Sachin made 5th Hundered in all World Cups, a New Record. I really wanna see Ponting to score Hundered in this World Cup. He badly needs a good form. It has been so long since I have seen Ponting classic Shots in ODI.

In-place of Dougi, I guess Peter Siddle should come in. Nannes has just only pace Imo, no line and length, plus Siddle is more experienced and has wicket-taking aggression.

Although its perfectly understandable why the selectors would want to delay now given that Hussey is available again.

They have brought this dilemma on themselves, since Hussey should have gone to the WC & given time to recover like the case was with Symonds in 2007, hell Hussey has recovered faster that Symonds in 2007.

Ponting was fit enough to play both warm-ups so realistically they would have only had Hussey unfit, so some for of miscalculation between physio & selectors went on when talking about Hussey's fitness it seems.

So basically no they are in the predicament, since it should just be straightforward call-up for Nannes to replace Bollinger.

I wonder if they can send back Ferguson home (although that would be incredibly harsh)?, since having both Hussey & Nannes go the India is what most people would want.

Hastings, Krejza - Send both in packing and order Mr.Cricket and Dan Christian.

Could Hussey have come back in if he have been ruled out during the WC and made a miracle recovery? As that would basically mean taking a backup wicketkeeper was pointless.

I'm confused. Since Dougie is injured, CA are allowed to bring in a replacement. In that case, it should be Hussey, no questions. And if one of the 3 main quicks does get injured, then can't CA bring in Nanness or Siddle?

Makes sense for Hilditch to wait until they really need a replacement. They've got all areas covered if there is an injury with 14. The need to have 5 fast bowlers in the squad has been lessened by Tait's fitness and form, and the decision to only play 3 fast bowlers each match. It was really the obvious call - if 4 fast bowlers played, then you are basically wasting Watson's all-round abilities and we saw last match that Ponting wouldn't get close to fitting in the overs with more pace.

With Smith bowling OK, I think the Aussies best chance of winning the WC comes with Mike Hussey and Ferguson at #5+6. Dave Hussey isn't really required at present, as Clarke could bowl some quick overs of spin if necessary and Smith is landing them pretty well. If Cameron White finds some form though, I'd be happy to keep him in instead of promoting Ferguson.

Hastings better than Christian @ international level, especially with his bowling.

Can never be too confident with Taits fitness regardless of the fact that he & Lee's bodies are standing up well so far. That cutting edge back up quick to the main pace trio (since Hasting's isn't that) is certainly still needed just in case.

Secondly not sure how you are managing to deduce Dussey suddenly isn't needed & is promoting Ferguson ahead of him. Plus Dussey bowling is certainly far better option than Clarke.

White is the batsman under the most pressure currently if M Hussey comes back in.

Yea thats the scenario.

But the confusion with bringing back Hussey now is that you would be over-packing the batting, since Ferguson (Hussey's WC replacement) is in the squad.

Yea for once I'm on the selectors side. The wait and see approach also allows them to see if they need another spinner because the pacemen aren't as effective. That test will come in the next few games against teams that handle pace better.

I guess I'm saying that based purely on batting that I like Ferguson better than Dave Hussey. The reason I think Dave isn't needed is because if Smith's bowling OK, then Dussey's bowling won't be required much at all. Right now, Dussey is the 7th bowler and if I'm selecting I don't keep a guy in the top 6 of a team just because he's a slightly better 7th bowler than Michael Clarke would be.

I think if Mike Hussey does get named as a replacement, he'd be into the XI for Dave virtually straight away (purely because Cameron White is a more senior player). Then it's just a matter of whether White's form can be good enough to hold his spot. I'm sure they'll give him a few games to work it out. If White can't find his form, then I'd have Ferguson rather than Dussey IMHO. Hence my M.Hussey/Ferguson duo at 5/6.

I don't see the role of White...

Out of Batting form and doesn't bowl anymore and is not a captain of any sort with ponting in the team. Send him back to find form.
