Ponting goes for 108​

England have finally made the breakthrough. Ricky Ponting has been dismissed after a massive partnership with Michael Hussey that lasted 150 magnificent runs. A brilliant Innings from the Australian Captain saw him walk off the ground, and have a standing ovation from the Brisbane crowd. All the England players appluaded Ponting off the ground for the brilliant Innings he produced aswell.
It was a stellar Innings from the champion 3rd batsmen for Australia, and now he will be looking to back it up in the field.​

Ricky Ponting goes for 108​

Andrew Flintoff was the man that got the massive wicket of Ponting. Flintoff was the bowler, and he had some help from his Captain Michael Vaughan who had set himself up in the field, and he ended up taking the catch of Ponting. Ponting played a poor shot (probably his only bad one for the afternoon) which went straight into the hands of Vaughan. Nothing went wrong for Ponting, and he wouldn't be dissapointed with the shot he played. It was a great Innings from the Captian and making 108 in the 1st Innings he would be delighted with.​

Like we said, Ponting just glided the ball to Michael Vaughan who was standing about 5 meters away from the pitch. The quick ball from Flintoff was just the start of it. The poor decision to hit the ball and then where he hit the ball was the next thing from Ponting. He slightly knipped the ball in thr ait, which was his biggest mistake. The ball just lightly glided to Vaughan who took the simplest of catches. But Ponting was happy with what he has achieved this morning and this afternoon. He made partnerships with 3 of his team mates, and one that was the match winner (possibly) with Michael Hussey.​

Michael Clarke is now at the crease for the Australians. Now England will need to break this partnership up quickly before it heads in the same direction as the Ponting and Hussey partnership. Clarke has the ability to score, and score quickly.
Liam Plunkett is back into the attack to try and put a quick bowler into the new batsmen. It is a good move from Vaughan who is finally doing something smart. It hasn't been his day, but something is going right at the moment.​

Like i said, Michael Clarke has the ability to score, and to score quickly. Just the 2nd over into his Innings, Michael Clarke glanced a beautiful ball down to the boundary. Plunkett was the bowler, and England might just have something on their hands. With Clarke and Hussey at the crease, Hussey nearing a 100 by the way, it might not look good for England.

Aussies are in comfortable position at the moment. Quick wickets for England will keep the game in balance though. Lets see what happens.

Australia still cruising​

Australi are still dominating the play here at the Gabba on the 1st Test Match against the Poms in the Ashes Series. The Australia re dominating the English on Day 1 here at the Gabba with Ponting just 10 minutes ago making a century before he was knocked over by Freddy Flintoff. Ponting made a massive difference to the total of Australia's score. Michael Hussey and Michael Clarke are now at the crease, and with the partnership of Ponting and Hussey coming to an end, the England side, dont want Clarke and Hussey to get anything cheaply.
Clarke is new to the crease, so he probably wont adapt to the conditions like Hussey is at the moment, so if the Poms were looking to grab another wicket, it would be Clarke, and it would be right now.


But England let Clarke in early. He played some brilliant shots. Most of them being fielded well by the English in the field, but the timing of his strokes was just the best that Clarke could produce. They hit the middle of the bat, and made a perfect sound which the whole ground could here. It was great to see the young middle order come through and play some shots like this.
Clarke who made his Test Debut last year in the Ashes Series, started off well in this Brisbane Test Match, and it looks nothing can stop him and Hussey from scoring something big.


Michael Clarke sets up early

While this is happening, Australia reach their 300 total mark, and in one day that is a massive score posted by the best Test team in the World. Many thanks to Ricky Ponting for that 108 he made earlier in the day, but, Hayden, Langer Hussey and Clarke have all contributed superbly. Just something looked so good about the way Australia was playing. All their players have good form, and they say Australia's best is their bowling attack, i would hate to be England right now who you would think would have to bat sometime in the 2nd day of this match, so with Lee and Clark coming at you, it will be hard for the English to post a good score. But it remains to be seen.

Michael Clarke has dominated the 1st few overs he has faced, he played another shot, the leg glance, off the feet and went to the boundary again, he is scoring quickly here is Clarke, and England are starting to tire from the heat all afternoon. This is where Clarke can be most dangerous.

There was a little chance there that England could of picked up Michael Clarke. Ashley Giles has trouvbled a few batsmen this afternoon, and he nearly caught Clarke off guard aswell. His spin is just hard to judge sometimes, Ashley Giles.
It was a brillaint bowl. He caught Clarke and made him pull back with his foot work. Clarke not seeing the spin on the ball, tried to go for the block, but the cracks in the pitch made the ball bounce away from where Clarke placed his bat.
The Ball hit Clarke on the pads in front of the stumps. Giles goes up and shouts to the umpire, but the umpire shakes his head and says "nothing there". We have the hawkeye for you, you judge for yourself, possibly out, but Michael Clarke survives, and this is where we leave you.

Maybe post a scorecard at the end of each update or just write the score, just to give us some idea how it is going. But that is only a tiny thing, the story is going very nicely.

Australia have crossed 300 but looking at Giles reaction i am sure that Clarke was lucky to get away. Nice presentation

This 300 is going to be tough for England now.. If Aussies manage to remove the openers in first 5-10 overs, Aussies are going to win this with ease. Nice presentation as always!
