BCCI announces Schedule for Australia's Tour of India 2010.

The Australian tour of India's schedule has been announced by BCCI president Shashank Manohar. Earlier, BCCI requested Australian Cricket to play few test matches instead of 7 ODI's, for which Cricket Australia has given a green signal. Australia will be touring India from October 3rd and will be playing 2 Tests, 3 ODI's and a T20i. The first test of the two will start on 3rd September at Vadodara and the second one will start on 10th October at Bangalore. The ODI series will kick off at Dharamsala on 17th October, with the second and third ODI's scheduled at Visakhapatnam and Panaji on 19th & 21st October respectively. The only T20 match was scheduled at Bangalore on 23rd October. A 2 day practice match was scheduled at Vadodara against India A.

Sources say that important venues like Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata & Mohali were kept out as venues cause the renovation works, which are at a full swing, of the stadiums for the World Cup might be a obstacle for the matches to go on. Venue assignment was done in such a manner that cities which din't had a match since long time were given chance to host. Bangalore was named as venue for both 2nd test match and the only T20 match as that was the venue which was perfectly renovated for world cup.

Shashank Manohar said that they decided the T20i match to be at the end cause the Sri Lankan tour of Australia was going to start at the end of October, with a T20i match. He even said that they were ready to tweak the schedule, if Cricket Australia insists in it as they (Australia) will be playing Sri Lanka on October 31st.

2- day Practice Match:

India A v Australia at Vadodara.
Starts on 29th September.

Border Gavaskar Trophy:

1st Test:
India v Australia at Vadodara.
Starts on 3rd October.

2nd test:
India v Australia at Bangalore.
Starts on 10th October.

Sahara Cup (ODI Series):

1st ODI:
India v Australia at Dharamsala.
Date: 17th October.

2nd ODI:
India v Australia at Visakhapatnam (D/N).
Date: 19th October.

3rd ODI:
India v Australia at Panaji.
Date: 21st October.

DLF International T20 Extravaganza:

India v Austraia at Bangalore (D/N).
Date: 23rd October.

Security Issues Make the Tour Even Smaller.

The security issues make the tour even smaller. According to the reports, P. Chidambaram, the union home minister declared that Commonwealth Games would be given upper hand in terms of providing security. He assured that Cricket will be given proper security, but they clearly declared that they will not be able to provide security like what they did in past due to Commonwealth games.

In reply to this, BCCI basically thought of shifting the ODI series to Sri Lanka or Bangladesh, but later on, they decided to make it a two test series and two T20 match series by ruling out the ODi games, which would finish just before CWG 2010 start.

Ratnakar Shetty said,"Well, security issue is one of the important factors, which we're taking into consideration as security of players is to which we give first preference rather than conducting the cricket successfully. We've decided to rule out the ODi series as there were numerous factors which opposed possibility of ODI cricket. One of the major things is its just 12 months we played a 7 ODi home series against Australia and moreover, ruling out ODi series will make us give some rest for players and play the matches comfortably. We heartily thank Cricket Australia for accepting the preponement of the series without hesitation. We've decided to make Hyderabad host for the first test because of the lack of proper facilities at Vadodara for mobility of players. Instead, Vadodara will be hosting an ODI match in New Zealand's tour of India."

Sahara Border Gavaskar Trophy:

First Test:
India v Australia at Hyderabad.
Starts on 13th September, 2010.

Second Test:
India v Australia at Bengaluru.
Starts 20th September, 2010.


DLF International T20 Extravaganza:

First T20i:
India v Australia at Dharamsala.
Date: 26th September, 2010.

Second T20i:
India v Australia at Kanpur.

Cricket Australia Announces their 15 Man Squad.

3rd September, 2010.

Cricket Australia announced their 15 man squad for their tour of India. James Sutherland said," We've decided to send same squads for both Test matches as well as T20's. However, David Warner will be the only person to fly just for playing the T20 contests. Marcus North has been kept out by keeping his fitness in mind. Cameron White gets a chance to prove himself. Peter Siddle has been re called into the team as he has passed the fitness test."

The squad: Ricky Ponting (C), Michael Clarke, Doug Bollinger, Ryan Harris, Nathan Hauritz, Michael Hussey, Mitchell Johnson, Simon Katich, Cameron White, Usman Khawaja, Tim Paine, Steven Smith, Shane Watson, Peter Siddle, David Warer(T20's).

Ponting spoke out soon after selecting the squad expressing his deep intension to defeat India in India and get back the Border Gavaskar trophy. He said," This time, we'll not repeat the mistakes which we committed last time when we toured India. We have hand full of spinners this time, which we din't had when we toured India last time in 2008. Selection of Jason Krejza should have done in my opinion cause he's a bowler who can bowl perfectly in the sub continent conditions. India will definitely play well as they're the No. 1 test team as of now. We are expecting a tough competition from India. MS Dhoni and his men are looking on top by drawing their test series with Sri Lanka."

So, Australia have announced their squad. Inclusion of players like Cameron White will be a healthy experiment as White has experience in playing at Sub Continent conditions.

India A Squad for the 2 Day Practice Match Announced.

The squad of India A has been announced. Virat Kohli has been named captain to the side, which includes players like Wriddhiman Saha, Umesh Yadav, Parthiv Patel, Mithun Manhas, Tirumalasetti Suman, Ravichandran Ashwin, Manish Pandey, Robin Uthappa, KP Appana, Ambati Rayudu and Stuart Binny.

Officials declared that Indian squad will be announced soon after this match ends. Virat Kohli was just amazed to see him as skipper of India A. He said that although it wasn't an important match, but it was the match which decides the confidence of Australia. Last time, in the practice match against Australia, playing for BCCI's Board's President's XI, Virat Kohli scored a century. Yuvraj Singh was not taken into consideration due to his fitness problems. Although he came back into Indian ODI side with back to back centuries against Sri Lanka and New Zealand, his recent fitness failure meant that he was out of Test series.

Selectors said that they decided to rest main players like Suresh Raina by not making them play in practice matches.

India A v Australia, A 2- Day Practice Game for Border Gavaskar Trophy.

Australia keen to have a good start to their tour of India.

The Australians, who arrived at Hyderabad last night, are looking for a confident start to their tour against India, which was to kick off with a tour match between India A and Australia. All players were practicing all the day. The game, which will decide the confidence of Australia has become a great challenge for Australia as India A were looking strong on paper, when compared to a normal List A team. In addition to this, last time, when Australia traveled India, They din't had a cricket to remember. They drew their practice match against Boards Presidents XI, but the Australian bowlers failed miserable in that match, which took place at the same venue. All Australia were looking was for a straight away victory in the practice game, which could decrease the confidence of Indian team. Ricky Ponting clearly stated that they have a perfect game plan to go on with and he was sure that their team will stick on to that plan and implement it.

On the other hand, India A were practicing a bit in a formidable manner, when compared to how Australians were preparing. Everyone in India A were looking confident, but the confidence of Australia is jittering the players a bit. India A din't had proper bowling, on which Australia were looking to get upper hand. Virat Kohli stated that India A was looking strong, when compared to other list A teams, for which he was happy. He added," We're looking forward for the game, give some practice to Australians by giving them some sort of competition and possibly try to win the game, which is looking highly impossible. Our aim is to win the game, but soon after tomorrow's first session finishes, we may be in a position to change our aim to a draw."
