From what I can tell, the matter is that the boards acted unilaterally and unprofessionally in handing out life bans, rather than submitting the accused to due process. Ata-ur-Rehman overturned his in 2006, Saleem Malik in 2008 and of course those 'disciplinary' bans against Mohammed Yousuf and Younis Khan didn't stick either. Although it's taken 12 years, I really doubt it would be so 'easy' to get out of an ICC ban, especially not in the UK where they're actually being subject to penalty from the real legal system.

I can tell you know Hansie Took the fall and he didn't take everyone with him. Hershelle Gibbs as much as I like him and respected him Hansie did not tell us everything and what Hershelle did. We went out on a semi draw. But I can tell you Lance Klusener cost Hansie Millions at the 99 world cup. He would have lost more if luck wasn't with him and that run out happened. But no one really thought of about match fixing until it was exposed. If the bookies can get the captain they can influence it. If Azhar sued the BCCI for damaging his reputation badly with this 'life ban', I would have sympathized with him. But the fact that he says 'I want to move on, and I don't want to press any charges against BCCI for this life ban' tells me that he has got this life ban lifted just for reputation sake. He looks to me the culprit and this lifting of the ban is just purely to salvage pride and erase the stigma.

I'd think the uplifting of the ban was more relating to domestic/non first class cricket and so I agree with it. He's committed his crime, done his time, now he is free to play the game he loves. It was a fairly token ban anyway, it wasn't exactly as if he was at the peak of his career at the time.

No surprise that someone involved in financial misdemeanours should become a politician...........................

I wouldn't mind him getting in to the game again, but this time he knows that the consequences will be harsh so he won't mess with the game. Any how, he is a politician now

Looking at his stats- he has played 99 test matches, my dad jovially said that he may be given a chance resting Tendulkar, but I countered him by saying that he fought against BCCI to get the ban undone.
