Bangladesh in Australia Aug-Sept 2008

I somewhat feel sorry for Bangladesh after reading that headline...

Me too :( but Cricket is not played with sympathy but skills so I guess we gotta be harsh to them and force them to play some good Cricket.

I expect Bangladesh to score 150 in the next match and bowl well too, I think it will be a decent practice.

Ashraful needs to stop finding daft ways of getting out, then a substantial innings may happen for him.

Yeah actually even scoring 20-40 runs regularly by taking just singles will help too, his aggressive shots will not work in all pitches in the world and he has to know that.

One thing Bangladeshi batsmen have to learn is to stop nailing the ball to the slip and getting caught out. It's been a major problem for years.

My Bangladesh playing XI for the next match:

Tamim
Junaid
Ashraful
Shakib
Kapali
Mahmudullah
Dhiman
Reza
Razzak
Mashrafe
Nazmul Hossain

I think it's the best side we can have by replacing Mehrab and Shahadat with Reza and Mahmudullah who can hold the bat and also bowl some useful spells.

Unless Reza and Mahmudullah plan to bat at 3 and 4, don't play them - they're just bits and pieces to be honest. What happened to Aftab Ahmed, I thought he was gonna become the next big thing for Bangladesh...

he is injured, so is our other special bowler s. resel :(
and reza is a decent bowler, Mahmudullah is...crap, actully your right both of them are crap

Why is it all going wrong for Mohammad Ashraful?
Khondaker Mirazur Rahman

27 May 2007, Bangladesh were in tatters on 10/3 in the second innings of second Test against India; still needing 488 runs to avoid an innings defeat. Mohammad Ashraful slowly walked to the crease amid deathly silence. He launched a scathing counter-attack; suddenly the quiet crowd burst into roars and Ashraful stormed to a 26 ball 50, the fastest fifty in Test cricket in terms of minutes and Viv Richards' 56 ball hundred against England in 1986 looked under threat. Indian skipper Anil Kumble kept it simple and reaped the benefit in his 2nd over. Ashraful tried to hit Kumble out of the park, but his ambitious shot could only reach as far as Tendulkar at midwicket. He departed after a blitzkrieg 41 ball 67. At that point, Bangladesh were still trailing by 401 runs. This is Mohammad Ashraful for you; young, reckless and entertaining. Read More

Aftab and Rasel have some serious injuries, I hope they will be back for the NZ series.

I think Mahmudullah is a very good batsman but he has a low strike rate but this is what we need from him right now looking at our batting collapse. We have lots of other bowling options as he has not become a good bowler yet and Farhad Reza is a decent batsman and sometimes bowls good as well so I guess we should be giving them chances as we are going lose the next match anyway.

The batting is hecka weak, we need at least another batsman and I don't see any reason why Mahmudullah shouldn't be there and Shahadat definitely has to walk out.

The last two matches have made me wonder whether Bangla should be playing against Australia.

me too. i hope they can cross 230 if they bats 1st or i hope they can keep Aus donw under 230 if they bowl 1st

good luck BD! :happy

They're not in lockdown and it's not like he was getting on the piss the day before. Fishing is harmless.
Of course not. But to go into some remote location days before an international series is going to start is pretty silly. If he uses that to plead innocence, I would have no sympathy for him. It's not like it was during the off-season. Once you are on the cusp of an international encounter, you are expected to be concentrating fully on the cricket that's ahead, not fishing.
