Zorax Doom to Skipper Bermudans against Netherlands
Bermuda Cricket today announced that a player's vote had announced that Spinner Zorax Doom will captain the side against The Netherlands, at Pochtesfroom, (hopefully) later today. Zorax issued a brief statement, saying he was glad that regular captain Dean Sherr's injury had turned out to be a good thing, and that he would make sure he took some wickets and won the game off his own ball.
I said that? I think you mis-quoted me. What I really said was that I would make sure we took no wickets and that we lost the game off my own ball...
Anyways, great honour, and looking forward to the update
You both make great arguments. But the decision has been made unfortuantely, I already started playing. Pre Match will probably be tomorrow, if I can I'll move it up to today.
Pre-Match on SuperSports - Netherlands v Bermuda - With Dwayne Leverock and Ryan ten Doeschate
Welcome to Potchefstroom for this 3rd ICC Tri Series Match, between The Netherlands and Bermuda, I'm former Bermudan Spinner Dwayne Leverock, and with me is injured Netherlands all-rounder Ryan ten Doeschate, good to be with you Ryan.
Thanks Dwayne, good to be here, although disappointed not to be playing today.
Well Ryan, this is the 3rd match in the series, and the last here in Potchefstroom, before we head over to Benoni, we can look at the poorly rendered ladder now:
Well as you can see a great matchup, both teams have beaten Canada, so we'll have to see who can win this one now, Sportsbet have got Holland at 9.80 ZAR ($1.75 AUD, 0.70 GBP, 1.05 EUR), and Bermuda at 15.45 ($2.75 AUD, work it out yourself at xe.com), but I think the teams will be quite evenly matched, let's look at the teams now.
Two strong sides, some debuts for Bermuda, with Mark Rogers, Matt West and newly appointed stand-in skipper Zorax Doom all making their international debuts for Bermuda, of course two injuries to key players, with Bermuda's captain Dean Sherr out, and yourself as well for Holland, but both sides losing a key player almost evens it out I think, and we should see an interesting battle, now let's go down to ground level, where Daryll Cullinan is waiting to deliver us his pitch report.
Thanks Dwayne, what an exciting match this should be may I say first up, two strong sides and a reasonably decent crowd here too, a lot of Dutch supporters here, as you'd expect, as there are a lot of Dutch people in South Africa, so now let's waste no time in looking at this pitch now, and it's a great spinner's pitch, dusty, almost no grass on it at all, should turn a fair bit in the second innings, and Holland did win the toss and rightly so are batting first, no doubt about it, you don't want to be batting second on this one, get some runs on the board and watch it turn later on today, it should do a fair bit of that as the pitch wears. As for the weather, it's sunny, quite nice and mild, and not cloudy at all so it's definitely a paceman's nightmare here, a great pitch for the batsmen, being used a fair bit in the past week, 3 recent matches making it wear down a fair bit, so the toss was a good one to win today, and Bermuda will be forced to bowl first, a tough task here today, back to you Dwayne and Ryan in the box.
Thanks Daryll, Daryll Cullinan down there with his pitch report, now we're going to take a break, when we come back it's going to be Mark Rogers, the debutant, to bowl the opening over of the game, to bowl to Jan Kloppenburg.
Nice
But I'm at ten. Quite shocking. Always considered myself a number 9 at the least...
Beh, what does it matter. We are gonna lose anyways, I've got huge bucks on the Dutch
Anyways very good layout and poor decisiion to make Zorax captain as he will be badly behaved and probaly injure the batsman. On a positive note you should still win
