well, someone named Sachin TEndulkar ruled the world in the 90's and till 2005. and still going strong. where he is from.ummmmmmm Hey he is from Mumbai, isnt that in India. So that means he is Indian

What has this turned into?... I personally prefer Pietersen over Yuvraj, Pietersen has become a developed talent. Probably the most threatening batsmen for English.

Probably? Easily I'd say!

Btw, Is Ben's ban a permanent one? Just as we were starting to agree on things he goes and gets himself banned, big muppet. I was looking forward to having him around for the Ashes next year.

I know Yuvraj has talent, but Pieterson has more, and is already a great batsmen so I can't see Yuvraj catching him in the next decade.

I think Warner is the first of many T20 specialists to come...

Yuvraj is an interesting one, I think the New Zealand series in March will tell us a lot about where his test career is heading. He's a class player though and I felt that some of the posts against him were a tad bit over the top

Tests:
KP
Michael Clarke
Hashim Amla
Kattich
Ghambir

ODI & T20:
KP
Yuvraj
Luke Wright (needs another year or so, good clean hitter)
Owais Shah
Possibly Bopara, just ain't seen enough of him batting

Lol @ all the points saying Yuvraj does'nt have good temperament. Anyone remember the Natwest final against England a few years back where he took India to victory with Kaif chasing 326? Remember his innings against W.I in India where India chased 325? Remember the 70 off 30 balls knock against AUS in the T20 WC Semi-final? Remember his 84 on his debut ODI against Australia in the 2000 Knockout Tournament(For your information, that Oz bowling attack had Mcgrath, Gillespie and Lee in it;). So, an excellent bowling attack)? There are loads of innings I can list to prove that Yuvraj is a better ODI player than KP. So, the point that Yuvraj does'nt have a good temperament is baseless.

Michael Bevan was not a good test batsman either but you can't say KP is better than Bevan by just collecting loads of stats(which dont mean much IMO) and posting them in a message. My conclusion:

KP > Yuvraj in tests.
Yuvraj > KP in ODIs and T20.

I think people mean he doesn't have the temperament in test cricket, his is however (in recent times) very explosive ODI player.

What exactly is your basis for saying Yuvraj is better than KP in ODi's? A few good innings and hitting 6 sixes in an over don't prove anything. KP's been far more consistant, and if we're talking about cracking debut's. What about KP's debut in the country of his birth, getting booed to sin, yet scores 3 hundreds in a series that England were hammered in. The South African fans turned his back on KP when he made his first ton, but by the end of that series he was being applauded for his efforts. That's far more impressive than an 84 against Australia. KP scored 88 against Australia, playing half the innings with a broken rib.

The stats are in KP's favour, he's got a better technique, and is widely regarded to be a class batsman. Yuvraj is only hyped by Indian's, he's played a few good innings, but so's Jamie How, doesn't mean he's going to be lauded as better than Ponting. The only thing we can truely compare players on is the stats and possibly even technique, and KP's stats are FAR better than Yuvraj's, and also KP's batting has far fewer technical deficiencies than Yuvraj.

Adrian Barath might also have a chance. He is the biggest batting talent the WI have that's close to playing for the team.

In test yuvi wasnt successful coz earlier he used to get chances only when a senior player is injured, and all the time axe was hanging next to his head. just now ganguly ios retired see how calmly he played in Test series agains England. Mark my word,by the end of 2009 season yuvi would catch up pieterson. And in ODI, yuvi had made his debu a lot earlier than pieterson, pieterson debuted at 25 while yuvi at 18. Generally players peak around 24 and 26.that age coincide with pieterson's debu so he had a wornderful year, whereas yuvi took time to reach 25 to peak. he had scored 8 ODI centuries in last 2 years. In ODI and T20 Pieterson is no match for yuvi. LOL yuvi performed better than Pieterson in the Both TEST and ODI's. remember, pieterson scored just one century and thats it.yuvi had a score of 40,and two scores of 85+ in test. and in ODI series he blasted English attack in first two game by two concecutive centuries, how come you english fans forget that. atleast remmeber the first century,he blasted all the bowlers in first odi. And as far as pieterson scoring 84 with broken rib against Aus, well in second odi yuvi was suffering from back injurry, didnt you see,he played the whole innings with a support belt around his waist.yet scored 100 and blasted english team, This is what you call determination and guts. so as per recent performance i can say Yuvi>pieterson in both Test And ODI's. well as far as T20 is concerned there was no copetetion et all, K.P. didnt even came anywhere close to yuvi. So in T20 Yuvi >>>>>>>>>>>> K.P

max_dillon2007 added 1 Minutes and 55 Seconds later...

Period,End of discussion people, Yuvi is >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>K.P

My basis is that Yuvraj is more experienced than KP in ODIs. KP comes in at the top of the order and helps England build an innings whereas Yuvraj comes down the order at 5, 6 or 7 and helps India comeback from a collapse and re-build an innings when the top order fails. The situations that these two guys face are different and Yuvraj is mostly under more pressure than KP. Yuvraj has played 200 odd matches and there is no guarantee that KP will able to maintain his 50+ average when he has played as many matches as Yuvraj. I never brought up the six sixes in an over point at all, but will use it if Broad becomes a legend in the future like Freddy.:p Broad has got a lot of potential being in his early 20s.

Anyone with a bit of luck can hit the 6's. So, it would be foolish of me to hang on to or consider that point IMO. All I mean is, he has done much more in ODI cricket than that.:)

i had not seen J.P. Duminy bat before, but after seeing him against Aus in T20, i gotta admit that Bloke has something, he is definitely not in the Class of Tendulkar,Lara or even Ponting, but he will be in one of the world's best batsmen in the years to come, cheers S.F you have found somehing special after Lance Klusner.
