Best Batsmen Of next Decade.

Clarke's come on as a fine talent in the last few years. KP well he's got a poor, poor attitude. I'd say he was a good batsman but by far not the best. I think Amla deserves a mention.

Kevin Pietersen looks destined for greatness, but needs to keep his head. Yuvraj by the way has a lot to prove. Also, Clarke is just beginning to realize the talent he has. But I really don't think they will be the next decade's best. However Dan, I don't agree that Yuvraj is over-rated. He has got the talent to make it, but has disappointed so far.

I dunno about the other incumbents, but I've been reading a lot about Cheteshwar Pujara. He's scored some three triple tons this season!

From an SA point of view: Hashim Amla. He has the best temperament of all the young SA batsmen (Duminy, AB, Vaughn Van Jaarsveld etc) and he looks extremely classy at the crease. I predict some big scoring years for him in the near future.

Gatuam Gambhir, Michael Clarke, Ajinkya Rahane and Chetshwar Pujara for me.

Thats considering Rahane's and Pujara's carreers don't suffer the evil element of politics in Indian Cricket.

BTW, Pietersen and Clarke are better batsmen that Yuvraj. Far more consistent. However Yuvraj is starting to get somewhat consistent now (Judging on that England Series).

Pujara is just immense.

No chance, Rahane is from Mumbai.

Yes but Pujara isn't. The lastest player to be selected from Gujarat was Munaf Patel iirc.

Yeah, I hope there's no politics. But then a number of players from newer centres are getting selected. Dhoni is a prime example.

Rahane will not be snubbed by politics. He's from Mumbai, as mob stated.

If he ever gets a long go, I think Murali Vijay will be immense. Doubt he'll get much time for India though.

Abhinav Mukund, this kid is only 19. averages 54 with 6 centuries. If he gets a chance to play for India he should be a good one.

Just because you have a good FC average doesn't mean your going to turn it into Test match superiority. Bowlers are a lot smarter and you seen some players who may have an average of 50+ in FC but flunk in tests. Test relies a lot more on technique and eye as the bowlers are a lot smarter also the fielding is a lot sharper.
Look at what they done to Clarke, he had an average of around 37 when Australia picked him and look what heights his reached since.

Josh Hazzlewood could be bursting onto the scene within this decade.

Whoops, he's a bowler. I thought this thread was best players of the next decade :p But he'll still be a good player I think.

Well theres a good chance they will. If you average 54 with 6 centuries at only 19 I wouldn't be surprised if he ended up as a good prospect.

He most likely won't. He's from Tamil Nadu. Sad but true.

Why not?

After Sehwag-Gambhir, I see the next opening pair for India (maybe in about 7 years) from these two Tamils, Mukund and Vijay. They are the best opening partnership in India barring Sehwag-Gambhir anyway.
