Story Brendon vs Callum vs Jono - A Worcestershire Battle

And, as I mentioned on the Childish Things forums for the next patch, Shaaiq Choudry is more of a bowling allrounder. In their most recent lot of T20s he batted below Gareth Andrew, but still above Ben Cox!

Yeah, I noticed that when looking at their recent matches in real life.

Yeah, that's what we said last week, which is why I haven't posted/written up my match, even though I've played it.
I won't be able to post an entry on both Wednesday and Thursday, as well as maybe Friday.

I think I gave a hint but I didn't actually mention we were always going to do it. Anyway, that's fine, Callum.

That's fine we'll have a break for those days, and play one next sunday to make up for it

Reaction:

Are you actually flingen serious!!!
Not because I lost, but because Phil Jaques retired hurt on 2 in our first innings!!!

If you take his average of 52, times that by 2 because of both of our innings, minus 2 off that because of the runs he scored, if it wasn't for my bad flingen luck we would of had on average another 102 runs, which would have easily taken us to victory.

So pretty much if you take us without Phil Jaques we get only 4 points, and our first CC loss of the season, while if you take us with Phil Jaques we get 20 points, and move up to 5th on the table.

To rub salt into the would it's a four week injury, so yeah...

On top of that the rest of our batsmen are absolutely rubbish. Every innings about one of them scores a 50, but everyone else gets out without doing anything of use.

Our main three bowlers yet again all had a great game, especially Alan Richardson who picked up MOTM in a losing cause. Joe Leach has now gone wicketless in his first two FC matches, so is unlikely to feature again for a while to come.

Some of our players really need to stand up, because soon I won't be playing guys on reputation, rather if they're not putting the runs on the board, they won't be playing, Solanki included.

That really sucks for you, you don't have an international and you lost that by such a small margin. Your bowlers do really well, while my batsmen do well :p

5. Murray Goodwin
6. Luke Wright

8. Andy Hodd?

10. Monty Panesar
11. Corey Collymore

I went in with an interesting lineup, with only three specialist bowlers, all pacers as well. I was hoping that since Wheeldon hasn't been bowling too well, I might as well use a part time spinner instead, so Choudhry comes back in and the four part time spin bowlers will hopefully be good enough to restricts runs and take a few wickets.

I won the toss for the first time since my initial streak and chose to bat. Mitchell and Jaques were playing strongly against the pace bowlers. The introduction of spin turned this around, as Mitchell was out second ball to Hussain. Jaques fell to Panesar, sparking a mini-collapse before lunch as Ali followed the next over. After lunch Solanki also fell to Collymore, and Sussex were definitely on the higher ground as we were 100/4. Bad fielding helped our cause however as byes were given and catches were dropped. Unluckily, one of the catches went to hand, Smith unlucky to be out on 49. Choudhry got out to one of those ridiculous catches that the silly mid ons take, and we were 189/6. Kervezee followed without any more added onto the total. We were eventually all out for 236, with Cox having scored a duck.

We managed to snare Thornely early on, caught behind off Richardson, with Joyce following in a similar manner shortly afterwards. Evidently it was a difficult pitch to score on, as Gatting also fell caught behind. When Yardy fell, Sussex were in trouble at 69/4. After lunch Richardson reached his 5 wicket haul as he dismissed Wright and Goodwin as they were building a partnership. Eventually Sussex were all out for 211, Richardson taking 6-56.

We had a 25 run lead, and our goal would be to bat for a whole day to get a decent lead, and then try to dismiss them in the 4 or so sessions that would be remaining. This plan didn't appear to be working too well as we reached 85/4 at the end of day 2. The rest of the middle order didn't stick around for too long, and a partnership between Arif and Mason looked as if it would push us to a semi-decent total. Mason however got out on 24. Arif looked as if he would run out of partners but found support in the most unexpected place, with Ben Cox scoring his highest score of 35, as Arif made his century before falling shortly afterwards. We had a lead of 308 runs, and 4 sessions to bowl them out in.

We got off to a great start, with Thornely departing for not many. Joyce and Gatting looked as if they would be harder to displace however as they remained unbeaten at the end of the day. The next morning Mason managed to dismiss Gatting, but Sussex were 98/2 needing 211 more runs. The part time spinners were very threatening, and Richardson was having to bowl many overs. Eventually, Joyce was dismissed to a good catch, and Yardy followed, out to Mason. Sussex required 128 to win with 6 wickets remaining. Richardson and Mason took the new ball but Wright played aggressively to the end as Sussex eventually won by 5 wickets.

Barring Mason and Richardson, our bowling was pathetic, and the only standout in our batting was Arif. We need to drastically improve. We got 4 points for our efforts.

Sussex win by 5 wickets

Arif seems to be highly overrated with the bat, he scored a 50 for me as a nightwatchman, now he gets a 100 for you.
Their two best bowlers in your game, didn't play in my game. :p

They played Aga though who looks pretty good

Arif also scored 60 odd in my OD match lol

In 4/6 of my FC matches, I've got into positions where 75+% of the time I should win, yet I've only won once, and lost once as well. On one of my other draws I deserved to lose, and on my other draw it was a pretty even match.
On another save I could just as easily be on 3 wins, 1 loss, and 2 draws. :facepalm
