Story A Managers Journey to the top - Notts Fall To Heavy Defeat Against Yorkshire

Thanks for choosing. Of course if the match between the 2 top teams is a tie, I have no chance of going through.

Nottinghamshire vs Hampshire

I don't think I'll find many people choosing for another few days so I have decided to play the match now and I have changes it so whoever gets it right out of CG and BKB get 40,000 vcash while the other will get 10,000 vcash even though they will have gotten it wrong.

No changes were made to the side that beat Leicestershire a few days ago in hope for another win. We won the toss and had a bowl first on a pitch with some help in it for the pace bowlers. We still had the last match against Hampshire in the back of our minds where we should have easily won but we couldn't score the last few runs to win the match.

After conceding 5 runs off the first over, there were 3 consecutive maidens. Choosing to bowl first did the trick again, bowling Hampshire out for 184 in 49.2 over's. Everyone bowled well, Fletcher getting his reward for bowling superbly taking 3/40 from 10 over's. Adams bowled well again taking 3/46 from 10 over's. Pattinson continued his great form taking 2/31 from his 10 over's and Ealham chipped in with 2/26 from 7.2 over's. The spinners were also very economical, Brown taking 0/28 off 8 over's and Patel taking 0/12 from 4 over's. There were 9 maidens in the innings, everyone taking at least 1.

I had told the team to win within 35 over's so we had a good chance of going through to the quarter finals. Worcestershire had put on 210/9 from their 50 over's thanks to Solanki's 78. Would have preferred if they had scored a few more runs so they could beat Ireland letting us go through if we won.

We were in trouble though at 5/121 but Voges and Ealham put on a 50 run partnership, Voges scoring 46 and Brown hitting a quick 10* off 7 balls to get us just over the line. Would it be enough though. Ireland had beaten Worcestershire with 11.5 over's to spare so we did have a good chance of going through. I wasn't good with net run rate's though so I couldn't tell.

Yes. We just got through, Worcestershire's NRR seriously declining after that loss so we got second place and would play Scotland CC in the quarter finals.

Only 1 change was made to the side that got us through to the quarter finals of the Challenge Trophy, Ali Brown out, making way for William Jefferson. We would be hoping to win this match to go through to the semi finals. Our groundsman had prepared a good pitch for the seam bowlers so when Voges won the toss, he decided to bowl first. It was also very cloudy due to clear up a little later in the day which would give some more help to the swing bowlers.

We kept them to 227/9 from their 50 over's, Adams and Pattinson taking 3 wickets in each. Ealham bowled well taking 0/37 from 10 over's and Brown also chipped in with 2 wickets. Wright had contributed well for Scotland, scoring 73.

We got home easily, Patel scoring a massive 98* off 86 balls, finishing the game with 2 fours and a six off the last 3 balls to make us pass the target. After Shafayat was dismissed for a duck, Hales and Patel put on a 100 run partnership before Wood got out for 60. Voges kept on going hitting 6 four's and 2 sixes in a quick knock of 54 off 38 balls and Patel and Jefferson guided us home, Jefferson finishing on 8* and Patel finishing 2 runs short of what would have been a great century. We won with 19.1 over's to spare in the end. We were up against Essex in the semi final.

Well dominated, good luck against Essex. I think you may have accidentally posted an Ireland CC scorecard there (first pic)?

lol. It must be time to delete the 50 odd scorecards/squads/summaries that I have in my pictures. I have edited it with the right scorecard.

Big qtr final win there.
Wood, Patel and Voges were all class with the bat, while all your bowlers bar Fletcher chipped in.
It seems in most of your matches you have been struggling to find that 5th/6th bowling option, with both Swann and Sidebottom out.

Why. Patel can always ball out his overs if needed. Unless my bowlers are getting slogged a lot, I can easily find the bowlers to bowl out the full overs without too much hassle.

Well in a few of your matches you have played a specialist bowler, and he has got wasted.
I'm just saying, it seems you might as well play another batsman, and let Patel bowl through 10 over's.

Criticism over the last few games on not playing an extra specialist batsman due to the 6 in form bowlers in the side which caused a few batting collapses forced me to drop Fletcher for this match and add the extra batsman. So Fletcher and Shafayat were dropped in place for Brown and Wagh, Jefferson going into his normal spot as an opening batsman. So the T20 tournament had gotten underway and we would be looking for a win to start the tournament. Voges won the toss and had a bowl first.

They battled through to 117/7 from their 20 over's after falling to 24/7 thanks to Thorp's 63*. Adams took 4/21, Pattinson took 2/13 both from 4 over's and Brown was very economical, taking 0/14 from 4 over's. Patel was the only bad bowler taking 0/45 from 4 over's.

We recorded a comfortable 9 wicket win in the end, Jefferson scoring 63* and Patel making 40* after Wood was run out for 14. There was 1.1 over's to spare. A good result to start the tournament.

Lancashire vs Nottinghamshire

Squads_LAN_v_NOT.jpg

Well we had Swann, Broad and Sidebottom back from international duty which was very good and with Pattinson in very good form, it was going to be tough to drop players for them. In the end, I went back to the 6 bowling options, dropping Wagh, Ealham and Brown for Swann, Sidebottom and Broad. Voges won the toss and elected to bat first on a belter of a pitch.

It definately was a belter as we made 199/6 from our 20 over's, Patel scoring 90 off 47 balls, and would have scored a century if he didn't get out at the start of the 18th over. Hales and Voges also contributed with 38 off 22 and 44* off 36 balls respectively. It would be very hard work for Lancashire if they wanted to win this.

The game really went down to the wire, them needing 6 runs off the last ball to win. They only managed 1 run giving us a 4 run win, leaving them at 195/5 from their 20 over's. Swann took 2/34 and Sidebottom took 2/38 while Pattinson took 1/30 but they were the only good bowling figures as Adams, Broad and Patel all got hit around.
