PATRON'S PAST 300 AS MOIN CELEBRATES 50

Day One. 4:00 PM

Rameez Raja: Welcome back for the evening session of the first day of this two day warm-up match between the Patron's XI and the West Indies. One important thing to note is that it is winter here in Pakistan now and thus the days are quite short; as I speak we are losing light but hopefully we'll be able to get at least an hour's play. Right now of course Lara is operating his two spinners, so I doubt that the batsmen will complain about the light for a while yet. Coming back to the match, the Patron's skipper Hasan Raza was dismissed just on the brink of tea, and now the new batsmen joining Moin Khan at the crease is Yasir Arafat.

PATRON'S XI: 286/6

Rameez Raja: Despite the fading light, the two batsmen have managed to dominate the West Indians so far. Moin is know steadily moving towards his 50 and Arafat is quickly settling down as well. This pair will hope to take the Patron's past the 300 milestone and thus put themselves in a strong position for tomorrow's play.

PATRON'S XI: 293/6

Rameez Raja: Well, well well! Just how much will this dropped chance cost the West Indies? Chris Gayle is furious, as well he should be: It wasn't a hard chance and the fielder really should have done better. Arafat is lucky to get away with it: A mistimed sweep that made the ball rocket into the air off from his glove, and Hinds quickly moved in to gather the ball, but he must have lost his footing at the last moment as he slipped over and failed to catch the ball.

PATRON'S XI: 301/6

The crowd cheers as Moin Khan raises his bat one last time.

Rameez Raja: What a fantastic 50 for the Patron's wicketkeeper! Moin Khan has simply been pure class out there today, and has helped hold the innings together. A brilliant innings from a brilliant player.

It was a Moin's nice & handy knock! Patrons are becoming stronger n stronger now!

BANKS STRIKES AGAIN AS MOIN DEPARTS!

Day One. 4:10 PM

PATRON'S XI: 309/7

Rameez Raja: And that's out! No doubt in the umpire's mind- That's plumb in front of the wicket! Banks strikes once again as his spin completely decieves Moin Khan and the wicketkeeper decides, to his chargin, not to play at a ball that would have gone onto hit leg stump! A disappointing way to get out, but I'm sure the Windies wouldn't mind- Another important wicket for them!

The tail is exposed as Junaid Zia comes out to bat.

presentation is classy mate.....now as the tail is exposed Pak should look to score around 340-350

Though tail is exposed, Patrons are well placed! Nice presentation as always!

They probably will be dissmissed for a little less than they wanted to here. None the less some good bowling by the Windies to restrict the Patron's XI to a good score.

BAD LIGHT ENDS THE DAY'S PLAY

Day One. 4:20 PM

001-4.jpg

Rameez Raja: Junaid Zia was the player who came out to bat after the dismissal of Moin Khan, but immediately the two batsmen went up to the umpires and complained about the diminishing light. The two umpires had a lengthy discussion and after checking their light meters a few times, took off the bails and declared stumps on Day One.

Well, it's official now: Bad light has ended today's play and the teams are heading back to the pavilion after just twenty minutes of play. Brian Lara is clearly disgruntled as he wanted to clean up the tail before the end of the day to give his team a whole day to bat, but in support of the Patron's batsmen, it is getting dark quite quickly out there now, and even with spinners operating it can be quite hard to pick the ball in these murky conditions. Well, that's the end of Day One and the Patron's XI finish up on 309/7. It's been a terrific day's play and the West Indian bowlers surely must have gained some valuable experience out there. However some good knocks from Salman Butt, Hasan Raza and Moin Khan has meant that the Windies have had to work hard for every wicket.

We're just going to take a small commercial break, but don't go away! We'll be back in just a couple of moments with all of Day One's analysis and some expert views from our TenSports studio!
