Australian 1st Innings

Day 1 Session 1

Michael Hussey and Matthew Hayden came to the crease and Australia got off to a brilliant start with Matthew Hayden hitting two boundaries in the first over putting pressure immediately on the Bangladeshi opening bowlers Mashrafe Mortaza & Syed Rasel. After the first over the Australian opening batsmen were given nothing to attack but were still going at a steady rate. Then after 11.5 overs Syed Rasel had Matthew Hayden caught at first slip for 20 off 30 balls with Tamim Iqbal taking a good catch.

Australian captain Ricky Ponting strolled to the crease a lot earlier than he wanted and expected and he knew he had a lot more work to do with the ball seaming about. Then just four balls later he edged it straight through to the young Bangladeshi wicket keeper Mushfiqur Rahim to put Australia at 2-34 after just 50 minutes of play with the Australian captain going for a duck.

Phil Jaques came in under a bit of pressure after replacing Damien Martyn and batting out of position and it showed when he couldn’t score runs because of some good tight bowling from Saqibul Hasan and Mohammed Rafique. Eventually he premeditated a shot and got a top edge that went straight to Syed Rasel at mid-off after facing 36 balls for just 3 runs.

Justin Langer came in and worked slowly with Hussey to get to the break. When the session was complete they were 73 for 3 with Bangladesh in control leaving the people going into lunch with plenty of things to talk about.

Current Batsmen
M.Hussey 31 (99)
J.Langer 14 (31)

Current Bowlers
M.Rafique 9-2-17-1
A.Razzak 3-0-8-0

Awsome update mate great presentation!
Bangladesh are going great here they will just need to get Hussey out before he gets to confident.

Brilliant bowling from Bangaldesh :)

also, loving the presentation griffo, love the wicket pics, top notch! :clap

Day 1 Session 2

The Australians started the day in great fashion scoring runs at a good rate with Michael Hussey finally reaching his 50 by hitting a brilliant cover drive. His innings could prove a vital one after staying in with wickets falling around him.

Not too much later Justin Langer joined him on 50, Australia have steadied were on their way to a big total with a lot of work left for the Bangladeshi bowlers.

The Aussies continue on recovering well scoring around 90 runs in the session without the loss of a wicket and the Bangladeshis have to come up with something before they come back from tea.

Current Batsmen
M.Hussey 71 (201)
J.Langer 64 (129)

Current Bowlers
A.Razzak 12-2-27-0
M.Rafique 19-2-43-1

oh no,Bangladeshies are now in trouble:(
Good innings from Langer and Hussey.

Day 1 Session 3

Australia continued their dominance after the first ball after tea with Michael Hussey belting an Abdur Razzak ball for four but this would be a sign for the rest of the session with Saqibul Hasan making a vital break through clean bowling Michael Hussey on 94.

Hussey?s innings was a brilliant effort and he probably deserved 100 but his downfall brought controversial Australian all-rounder Shane Watson to the crease. Watson made his way to 16 then Habibul Bashar chose to take the new ball, which was a risky move with both Langer and Watson having experience opening the batting. The move did not pay off with Justin Langer hitting 3 consecutive fours taking his score to 96* but then the Australians seemed to struggle, the run rate dropped and Mortaza and Rasel seeming like they were going to take a wicket every ball but eventually Justin Langer got his century with a drive to mid-on taking exactly 200 balls

Australia kept going at a steady rate until the close of play. Australia is in control but some great early bowling from Bangladeshi attack proves that they mean business. The Bangladeshi response will be the key to this game considering the pitch is deteriorating quickly.

Current Batsmen
J.Langer 105 (220)
S.Watson 30 (57)

Current Bowlers
M.Mortaza 21-5-70-1
S.Rasel 20-3-47-1

First thing which striked me after opening this page is its neatness :hpraise Keep up the amazing works mate! :clap

And yes, Bangla's response will be the key becos one can never Aussie bowling attack that easy :)

Day 2 Session 1

Australia came out in a good position but not as good as they had expected with some good new ball bowling on the first day slowing them down but a good partnership from Michael Hussey and Justin Langer getting them back on track. Bangladeshi have not had a stand out bowler with everybody sharing the wickets but the pitch is deteriorating so look for the spinners to do some damage today. Australia’s day didn’t start as well as planned with Bashar deciding to stick with the opening bowlers with the reasonably new ball and it paid off with Syed Rasel clean bowling Shane Watson for 35.

raselgetswatsontk2.png

Adam Gilchrist came to the crease and was looking to score from the get go hitting two fours from his first two balls but the next ball was caught out at mid-on and was on his way back to the pavilion.

mortazagetsgilchristtp1.png

Brett Lee strides to the crease with work still left to do but his batting ability should never be estimated. Lee is a powerful striker of the ball but he did not show this early on instead opting to help Langer get the total past 300. A bowling change brought the undoing of Lee with Saqibul Hasan trapping him infront for 11.

hasangetsleerd8.png

Shane Warne walked to the crease with the Bangladeshi bowlers taking wickets consistently a statement that was proved true with the downfall of Justin Langer just a few overs after for a match changing 119 runs.

hasangetslangerfj5.png

Jason Gillespie and his ever present mullet joined us and then 4 balls later left us going for a duck and giving Saqibul Hasan his 4th wicket of the innings.

hasangetsgillespiekf5.png

Glenn McGrath came to the wicket with Australia 9/310 but it was Shane Warne who left with a brilliant catch from Nafees in 2nd slip ending the Australian innings with the last 5 wickets falling for just 41 runs and Saqibul Hasan taking 5 wickets.

hasangetswarneuo2.png

The Bangladeshi bowling attack have done tremendously well to restrict the Australians to 315 runs but in tough conditions they will have to bat well against the best bowling attack in the world if young Tamim Iqbal and Shariar Nafees get of to a solid start this game could be Bangladesh’s for the taking.
