Day 2 Session 1
Australia came out in a good position but not as good as they had expected with some good new ball bowling on the first day slowing them down but a good partnership from Michael Hussey and Justin Langer getting them back on track. Bangladeshi have not had a stand out bowler with everybody sharing the wickets but the pitch is deteriorating so look for the spinners to do some damage today. Australia’s day didn’t start as well as planned with Bashar deciding to stick with the opening bowlers with the reasonably new ball and it paid off with Syed Rasel clean bowling Shane Watson for 35.
Adam Gilchrist came to the crease and was looking to score from the get go hitting two fours from his first two balls but the next ball was caught out at mid-on and was on his way back to the pavilion.
Brett Lee strides to the crease with work still left to do but his batting ability should never be estimated. Lee is a powerful striker of the ball but he did not show this early on instead opting to help Langer get the total past 300. A bowling change brought the undoing of Lee with Saqibul Hasan trapping him infront for 11.
Shane Warne walked to the crease with the Bangladeshi bowlers taking wickets consistently a statement that was proved true with the downfall of Justin Langer just a few overs after for a match changing 119 runs.
Jason Gillespie and his ever present mullet joined us and then 4 balls later left us going for a duck and giving Saqibul Hasan his 4th wicket of the innings.
Glenn McGrath came to the wicket with Australia 9/310 but it was Shane Warne who left with a brilliant catch from Nafees in 2nd slip ending the Australian innings with the last 5 wickets falling for just 41 runs and Saqibul Hasan taking 5 wickets.
The Bangladeshi bowling attack have done tremendously well to restrict the Australians to 315 runs but in tough conditions they will have to bat well against the best bowling attack in the world if young Tamim Iqbal and Shariar Nafees get of to a solid start this game could be Bangladesh’s for the taking.
