Bangladesh 1st Innings

Day 1 Session 1

As the players come out for the first session you have to wonder whether any of the Bangladeshi top 6 will stand up to be counted or will the horrible form with the bat continue. Tamim Iqbal who scored just 7 runs in the first test is facing with Glenn McGrath running in to deliver the first ball, which Iqbal cleverly dispatches to the boundary. But the next over causes a massive blow in the Bangladeshi confidence with Tamim Iqbal falling for just 6 runs caught by the Australian captain Ricky Ponting at square leg.

With Brett Lee denting the confidence of the Tigers he charges in to bowl to the new batsmen Aftab Ahmed bowling in the mid 150?s and making the Bangladeshi batsmen feel uncomfortable. Glenn McGrath was as accurate as ever but some imaginative play from Aftab Ahmed made him seem to lose his rhythm. Bangladesh scored 50 runs within the first hour for the loss of just one wicket, quite an improvement from the first test but the introduction of Shane Warne on a spinners pitch brought about the downfall of Aftab Ahmed after edging it to Adam Gilchrist on 23.

Mohammed Ashraful joined Shariar Nafees in the middle and they steady the innings by playing Shane Warne with caution but Warne makes another break through getting Shariar Nafees caught in close on 44.

Habibul Bashar is next in with 2 overs left until the end of the session but Brett Lee is just too quick for Mohammed Ashraful clean bowling him for just 12 runs

All Rounder Saqibul Hasan joins his captain in the middle and they survive the final balls of the session with the score finishing on 98 for 4. Brett Lee and Shane Warne have continued to dominate this series with the ball taking two wickets each this session bringing their combined tally to 15 wickets of a possible 24. If Bangladesh are to post a good score they will need a good partnership from these two or I?m afraid it might just be a repeat of the first test.

An improvement, but nothing special on a batters track!

Great pres, love the new style, although are those pics missing of the wickets or did u not take them?

Day 1 Session 2

This session will prove a vital one with Bangladesh desperately needing its batsmen to stand up and give their bowlers some hope. Some good bowling early from Glenn McGrath left Bangladesh captain Habibul Bashar in a spin causing him to play and miss many times as well as edging a few. It was Hasan who would leave giving Shane Warne his third wicket for the innings and his eighth for the series.

After a gutsy innings in the first test 17 year old wicket keeper Mushfiqur Rahim looked like he would have to do the same with the score at 134 for 5 but it wasn?t to be, top edging a sweep all the way out to mid off with Jason Gillespie taking a spectacular catch in the outfield.

Mohammed Rafique comes out ready to bat after a good knock of 75. Bashar and Rafique go slowly but Gillespie makes the break through with Rafique edging the ball through to Australian vice-captain Adam Gilchrist. Mohammed Rafique departs for 15 and joins the list of players making a good start but not moving on to 50.

Abdur Razzak comes to the crease with the score on 175 for 7 and Bangladesh are in desperate need for a partnership in the tail. Habibul Bashar flicks a delivery off his pads and it pulls up just short of the boundary but he still brings up his fifty, a good knock in a pressure situation if he can remain not out at the end of the innings it would be a good sign for the Tigers

The two batmen make it to the end of the session but they will need to make it to the end of the next one if they wish to post any sort of a competitive total.

Rather disappointing performance from Bangla, but Griffo's presentation-way better.

Bangladesh are going alright,Basher could go on to score more runs but Warne is bowling well.

Griffo i have been reading great story im tryin to base mine on this and one dont by another guy about SLA barrow
just keep going
how do u get colours

Warne's an annoying bowler isn't he??

Always getting loads of wickets!!! There must be a way to stop him!!! Hopefully he'll have retired before I get round to playing them ;)

Day 1 Session 3

The batsmen resume at 199 for 7 needing a lot more runs if they are going to be in with a chance of victory. Shane Warne started the day for Australia and he continued to take wickets fooling Abdur Razzak with a delivery with more flight and getting him stumped. Signs are not good for Bangladesh they are now 212 for 8 with Mashrafe Mortaza coming to the wicket

Habibul Bashar continued to play very well making his way past Mohammed Rafique and his knock of 75 from the last test to give him the highest score this test series. Bashar seemed to be the only batsmen with the ability to deal with Shane Warne hitting 3 consecutive fours moving his score to 88 then dominating the next Glenn McGrath over to move up to 98 but then Mashrafe Mortaza tried to play a McGrath delivery off his hip hitting it straight to the man at square leg.

Syed Rasel comes to the crease at 11 with Habibul Bashar needing just two more runs to make his 4th test hundred. With just one ball left in the over McGrath surprises the tail ender with a perfect bouncer which he manages to just avoid bringing Habibul Bashar on strike. Habibul Bashar hits a ball through the covers off Jason Gillespie to bring up his hundred, he played superbly against Shane Warne on a spinning pitch, batted with the tail and scored at a strike rate of around 70. Habibul Bashars knock will be a vital one with many batsmen getting starts but not converting.

Habibul Bashar then skies an attempted cut shot to the fielder out in the deep and the Bangladesh innings closes for 271, a respectable total but the bowlers will have to work very hard to give them a chance at victory.

Bowling

Good afford from Bangla, rather disappointing that Bashar was the only one with mentionable resistance. BTW, 5 caught behinds? Rather upsetting. Fantastic bowling from Warne, and more amusing that Lee was hit all over with a economy rate of 4.81.
Anyhow good work with the story Griffo. Congrats!

Great stuff from Bashar, Warney is god :p taking 5 great wickets, and i bet they all were special and top class

Brilliant innings from Basher!
Thats an competative score by Bangladesh, hopefully they can roll Australia cheaply.
