They batted first on my usual bowler-friendly pitch. First time I've played with the three players I bought with the money from Oleary, so here's hoping one of the 2 new batsmen'll get some runs.
Don't know why you sold Olearly. Clearly if a weaker bowler could take 4 in 4, Oleary would have ripped them apart?

His average was only just the right side of 40, and he was taking less than a wicket a match. I knew that as his bowling was 'strong', I could con a lot of money out of someone for him. I did, got about ?300000, bought 2 batsmen (one of whom got 50 today) and a replacement bowler (who took 3-20).

Maybe you weren't using him right? Or did he have bad stamina and consistency?
Either way, a strong shouldn't be bowling that bad, regardless.

Rudi having fun out there!

4.5 W Rudi to Evanson
Big appeal from Mpumelele....and he's out! Well, Evanson has tried to flay that through the off side, but it's just taken the faintest of edges and he's on his way!

0.6 W Rudi to Duncan
Out! Duncan has been caught out by the bowler who got the ball smashed straight back into his hands.

End of Over 10: 47-2, runrate=4.70
Atherton-ham 5-0-18-0
Chorley* 21 (20 balls)
Stifler 11 (30 balls)

Last Wicket: Evanson c. Mpumelele b. Rudi 10 (FOW: 18/2)

oh oh two down already.

hopefully I can come back like the Australian Cricket team today!

End of Over 6: 29-2, runrate=4.83
Atkinson 3-0-11-2
Lefu* 11 (18 balls)
Prutton 0 (0 balls)

Last Wicket: Evans c. Greenwood b. Atkinson 8 (FOW: 29/2)

Highlights:

5.6 W Atkinson to Evans
Evans edges Atkinson straight into Greenwood's cuddly midriff at first slip.

4.3 6 Soft to Lefu
He hit that one so hard the crowd thought they'd get a piece each. Six runs.

1.2 W Atkinson to Papier
And it's been caught! Marvellous fielding there, absolutely marvellous!

1.1 4 Atkinson to Papier
Powered through mid wicket. Papier turns to Atkinson and asks for another just like it. What utter cheek!

Lefu's Discomfort:

6.4 . Soft to Lefu
Wowee! Wonderful out-swinger, Lefu follows the ball and is relieved that that ball was too good for him.
6.3 . Soft to Lefu
Outside the off. Lefu had a feel at that but is beaten.
6.2 . Soft to Lefu
Nice bouncer by Soft, Lefu is lucky to have his head intact after that one. A quick rub of the head and he carries on.

End of Over 15: 76-3, runrate=5.07
Tuckett 3-0-14-0
Lefu* 34 (48 balls)
Preece 5 (2 balls)

Last Wicket: Prutton Run Out 16 (FOW: 67/3)

Your still in a decent postition. Stronger than I anticipated, I actually have a Abysmal bowler with Respectable consistency up next...uh-oh...

the runrate is ticking along quite nicely.

Should be a pretty even game, if I can survive Crouch's overs.

Tight over from Tuckett...
Not a great start to Crouch's final over. 3 balls left from which he can get a wicket (Preferrably Lefu)

phew, I survived his first spell.

Apart from the runout.

It's 3.48am, and I'm up just to watch the battricks game,

now that's dedication!

20.3 4 Bryant to Lefu
Slower delivery, picked up over mid on for the boundary.
And that's his fifty! Well played.

A nice little innings, hopefully he can go on to get a century and more.

this was some over:

23.6 . Atkinson to Preece
Bouncer! Atkinson slipped in the shorter ball and Preece only just got out of the way in time! Fallon takes the ball high above his head, before shouting some encouragement back to the bowler - I don't think he needs it judging by that snorter!
23.5 1 Atkinson to Lefu
Opened the face of the bat, steered down to third man.
23.4 6 Atkinson to Lefu
WHAT A SHOT! The ball is hooked high, high into the square leg terraces. SIX!
23.3 4 Atkinson to Lefu
Late cut, into the gap and over the boundary at backward point.
23.2 1 Atkinson to Preece
Angled in, managed to stroke it out into the covers for an easy single.
23.1 2 Atkinson to Preece
Smashed away, stopped by Tuckett to prevent a boundary. I'm surprised it didn't break his foot! Two runs for Preece.

oh great, Atkinson has his revenge

25.6 W Atkinson to Lefu
That's gone for 4 byes. Wait, what's going on here? Oh my, apparently the ball just kissed the top of leg stump and knocked the bail down. It seemed like 4 byes, but only the keeper knew what was really happening! Great bowling.

and with that I'm getting some shuteye.

This is going to be a high scoring one.

End of Over 29: 179-4, runrate=6.17
Bryant 5-0-33-0
Antrobus* 5 (7 balls)
Preece 49 (49 balls)

Last Wicket: Lefu b. Atkinson 81 (FOW: 157/4)

29.2 1 Atkinson to Preece
On the back foot, straight bat, stroked to long on, fielder running in from the boundary.
And that's his fifty! Well played.

Breakthrough:

30.6 W Tuckett to Preece
Dennis takes a neat catch at square leg. Preece walks

32.4 6 Tuckett to Wiles
That shot was straight from the school of W G Grace, an humongous strike for six runs.

Tuckett bowling beautifully:
34.3 W Tuckett to Wiles
What a cracking ball. Wiles couldn't do much about that one.

280 is on the cards.

End of Over 35: 214-6, runrate=6.11
Tuckett 8-0-38-2
Antrobus* 21 (21 balls)
Beechers 0 (3 balls)

Last Wicket: Wiles b. Tuckett 13 (FOW: 214/6)

Crouch on fire:

37.4 W Crouch to Clare
The slower delivery has done for Clare, as he lobs the ball back into Crouch's hands for the simplest of catches. Clare shakes his head as he trudges back to the pavilion.
37.3 . Crouch to Clare
Well forward, solid stroke straight to mid off.
37.2 W Crouch to Saadat
Big appeal for a catch at silly mid on. GIVEN!
37.1 W Crouch to Antrobus
And that's out! Beautiful delivery, just a little movement away and a regulation caught behind for Fallon.

End of Over 38: 226-9, runrate=5.95
Crouch 9-1-43-3
Beechers* 1 (7 balls)
Howland 0 (2 balls)

Last Wicket: Clare c & b. Crouch 0 (FOW: 226/9)

Crouch's burst has made 250 look difficult.

Crouch wraps the tail:
39.5 W Crouch to Beechers
Bowled him! Good length ball with a hint of swing, misjudgement from Beechers as it clatters into off stump!

End of Over 40: 229-10, runrate=5.73
Crouch 9-1-43-4
Howland* 1 (6 balls)

230 to win.
