This happens from time to time in Twenty20. As it is, this isn't the most conducive venue for high-scoring encounters, so India's approach was quite bemusing.

Step up is what they were trying to do. They needed to step back--step off the pedal a bit. They thought they were playing on a quick pitch with a short boundary and lightning outfield.
