Commonwealth Bank Series Feb-Mar 2011/12

sanga was fine as a captain, it didn't really matter anyway because mahela was vice and the two of them almost captained together. what happened with dilshan was that they tried to move away from those two being the decision makers and it collapsed.

(and incidently, it was the selectors that messed up SL in the WC final inexplicably bringing back the rubbish kapugadera and replacing the most economical bowler in the tournament with someone that had only been called up as a replacement a few days before.)

He has just recovered from an injury, will start playing domestic cricket from today and hopefully he will make a comeback soon.

WHAT? Are you insane? You think Yusuf is a solution to our batting order problems? You think Yusuf will excel in the same situation where players like Raina and Rohit failed? Yusuf is worser. No technique at all, just swings his bat wildly and if it connects, he is a hero and if it does not, he goes back to the pavilion expression-less. His bowling and fielding are no great shakes to keep him in the team and wait for that once in a blue moon hurricane knock. We already have Sehwag for that in the team (that once in a blue moon guy).

Just when I praise Mahela Jayawardena, he comes up with this nonsense!!!:mad
Jayawardene critical of Ashwin's tactics - The Times of India

Really Mahela??? What about Thiramanne repeatedly stepping out of his crease before the bowler delivered the ball? He was so apparently abusing "The spirit of cricket" (which is a load of BS). Why have laws when you play cricket by the spirit?

Why? You want us to lose even more badly?:D He is a Shahid Afridi (the one without brains; which he was most of the time). Zero technique, just pure mindless slog.

After we almost won in the 5th ODI against the Proteas..with that epic 100 of Yusuf. One wouldn't say he is bad.

I think they had that coming. If you're mostly worried about propriety, then merely attempting Mankads is cause for criticism. If the senior players are really so strongly against it, they should act strong about it and set that policy in the dressing room to ensure the bowlers don't do something that might cause problems. To flip at the point of appeal and warn the batsman one more time is just wishy washy, the worst option. It suggests you do think the batsman is wrong, but that you're too insecure about public opinion to do anything about it.

Yes, but that was a very very rare knock (I think he had 2 of such knocks, one against NZ and this one). Yusuf has never showed anything close to the word "consistency". He has been one big waste whenever we played.

Mahela has always been a very good captain. When he took over for this tour, I was very worried about India's performance against Sri Lanka, and my fears are now turning out to be true. Lot of respect for Mahela, the captain. Had he captained Sri Lanka in that World Cup final, who knows what could have happened? Sangakkara was a very timid and a bland guy for a captain, and probably Dilshan too (I have not watched the games where he captained). Sri Lanka should have Mahela till they find a new guy who is as good.

Mahela's an awesome captain :thumbs Based on this series, he seems the most interesting and aggressive captain going around at present, always keeping the field up if he can. It's been refreshing to watch.

I think the question whether ponting would of won the test matches have been answered.

It just proves that with good players performing well, any captain can win it.

I m not comparing Yusuf with Raina or Rohit nor m I sayin that he is the solution to the problems the team is facing, but yes, if Raina and Rohit can't perform in difficult situations, that doesn't mean that the same would happen to Yusuf or anyone else, right before the WC, Rohit Sharma and Raina failed miserable against the SA pace bowlers on bouncy SA wickets, in the same series, Yusuf won the 3rd ODI for India when India were almost out of the game and scored a brilliant 68 ball century in the 5th ODI but didn't get any support from the other batsmen. Even his match winning century against New Zealand came at a time when the team was in trouble and it was difficult for India to pull off a victory.Don't think Jadeja can give similar performances batting at number 7 nor has any other batsmen tried at that number played such knocks in recent past.

Yusuf has underperformed at times and has not been handled well by the management, but he is capable of winning matches and should be given more opportunities if he shows good form in domestic cricket.

Jadeja, who has played in all six matches, has taken just one wicket conceding 233 runs at an economy rate of 5.47. He tallies 93 runs at an average of 18.60 with a strike rate of just 73.22.

On the other hand, Pathan has taken six wickets from three matches at an economy rate of 5.27. He has also scored 74 runs at an average of 24.66 and has shown that he can produce the big hits when necessary. At a time when most others are struggling to prove their place in the side, Pathan has been putting in the hard yards to add to his determination and desire to go out and perform.

About the rift in the Team...I seriously think Mr.Grumpy boy should get involved.
Last time I remember Indian team playing so like some smashed pie and issues in the team was when Greg was the coach. I hope Fletcher burns !

Watson better be named today, will be pissed if he's left out after he could've turned out for the last one-dayer for NSW. And if Christian doesn't play, he better be able to make the Ryobi cup final for SA.

So, the line-up should look exactly like this:

Warner
Watson
Clarke
Wade
M. Hussey
D. Hussey
Christian
Lee
Harris
Hilfy
Doherty

cricinfo seems to think McKay for Lee, but I'd put him in for Harris if anyone.

jfc no Watson. Nice move pulling him out of NSW dumbasses.

My fried chickening god Nine you are the biggest piece of ???? channel. Seriously who the fried chicken cares about two politicians that have been knifing each other for two years? All cricket should be on Fox Sports :facepalm

just when you think you couldn't hate politicians any more, the stupid bastards decide to read speeches not even written by them right at the start of the cricket.

haha listening on local radio, even the press conference has been interrupted for an emergency broadcast

should have gone to the stream to begin with
