Caribbean CPLT20 - PC Draft - Round 2

I'm taking rampaging Ravi Rampaul

Will post a write up in the next hour or so :)

As it stands, T20Pro has 2 picks to make: an overseas player and a West Indian. And now Jack Ryder can make a West Indian pick as well.

Ravi Rampaul

I used to be sceptical of Rampaul's quality, but his play has improved dramatically the last couple of years (he has credited WI coach Ottis Gibson in interviews I've read). Figures bear out his improvement. Look at the way his bowling averages have dropped recently:
2010/11 and earlier: 109.75 in Tests, 32.55 in ODIs, 30.44 in T20Is and 23.16 in all T20s.
Season 2011 and onwards: 28.13 in Tests, 25.31 in ODIs, 20.19 in T20Is and 16.80 in all T20s.

Rampaul will fulfill my desire for a strike bowler, one of those guys who has the ability of taking wickets frequently. In the last 2 years, no West Indian has a better strike rate in T20Is (or ODIs as well) - not even Narine. He has all the raw attributes: bowls with good pace, able to get it in the mid 140s on occasion, and can make the ball move. Metronomic accuracy or economy is not his strength, but that's OK, very few bowlers can be both great strikers AND economical.

He can bat a bit too. Made a very rapid 86* vs India in an ODI a couple of years ago.

Format | Matches | Wickets | Average | Economy | Strikerate | BB T20I | 19 | 25 | 23.88 | 8.56 | 16.7 | 3/16 T20 | 55 | 71 | 19.66 | 6.93 | 17.0 | 5/9

I'll definitely do that so I don't forget all about it and go inactive *awkward cough*

:wi: :bwl: Kevon Cooper is a canny medium-pace seamer who has found his home in the Twenty20 format. When he made his debut for T&T in the ill-fated Stanford Super Series, he came on as the sixth bowler, and bowled two overs for eighteen. For three more years, he played only Twenty20 for his island before really burst onto the scene in the Bangladesh Premier League as a typically budget overseas signing and was an instant success. From there, the IPL beckoned, and more global recognition as a virtual unknown among the mega-stars.

:sri: :ar: Thisara Perera has an ODI hat-trick to his name, but in Twenty20 his bowling is easy to regard as his second string. His left handed hitting is as clean and destructive as almost anyone in the world. Although he has only one T20 half-century, that reflects more his role as a lower-order impact player than his ability. As well as being a fantastic finisher, he is also a Test standard bowler and a vital addition to my team.

OK cool, so we're at the bottom of round 4: Akshay has a pick to make.

When you've got a moment Author, update the first post so we can see where we're at and who's been picked. Or I'll do it next time I'm on using my magic powers :p

Muttiah Muralitharan

After establishing a reign of terror (excellent bowling) in Test Matches and OD's, Murali is all set for T-20's too. The Jamaican Cricketing Association has selected their fourth player, none other than Mr. Spin Master himself, Muttiah Muralitharan. At the age of 41 the way he shows his sportsman spirit on the field is commendable. The legend requires no words for his bowling. The JCA anticipates that his bowling will surely outclass the batsmen playing in the league and gonna embraces his Reign of Terror !

Alright, will do me best to get round to that but not today because I have about 3,000 words of physics work due for tomorrow.

Sorry for the wrong pick ! :p

I'll pick Fidel Edwards as my fourth player. Write-Up coming in a few minutes :)

Fidel Edwards

Fidel Edwards is selected as the fourth player of Jamaica. Despite of having not-so-good international career, The Jamaican Cricketing Association drafted him for this season hoping his game would surely improve. Caribbean Premier League opens doors for domestic cricketers to give them real time ambiance of how international cricket looks. Edwards has to perform well, as playing with Indies legend Chris Gayle, MSD and Ross Taylor is not a joke.
