Cricket 19 General Discussion

I was wondering the same. I presume AI (while bowling) set field according to batsman’s weakness (hopefully no vacant point positions), maybe set 7-2 offside field and bowl on the offside forcing human teams to take risk while scoring runs.

In terms of batting, with improved AI, @MattW can v expect dynamic batting order from AI (sending attacking/brute batsman ahead of more defensive batsman towards the end of innings)

Yeah, hopefully we see the bowling linked to the field setting. I'd love to see different approaches at different times, e.g. looking for good length swing with the new ball, looking to restrict the scoring in death overs with wider yorkers and slower balls. As well as adapting to match circumstances at less obvious times. If you've got a couple of settled batsman they prrhaps try some short stuff or a part timer.

I've felt for the last two games that bowling and fielding are skewed too much in our favour. We're able to make minor adjustments that isn't an option for the AI. Anything that closes the balance, even a little, would be welcome.

Certainly hope that the strategy improvements extend to AI batting too.

Very much agree with what you have said here.

AI bowlers should also start off with trying to find and exploit the batsman's weakness. Example put fielders out on the boundary on the leg side and bowl a lot of bouncers if the human player struggles to play short balls. If the AI can't get the batsman out by finding a weakness they should try to create a wicket by trying what you posted above.

Is there any potential for a world cup dlc or at least the ability to create the tournament
With the release close to the WC 2019 I presume that we should be able to create multi nation tournament with league/group set up in the Tournament creator

Only Matt himself can decide that.

I'm pretty sure you asking isn't going to change anything though. Maybe try discussing the game instead?
@MattW Atleast a small hint of when the next update/info/detail about the game is planned to be revealed. Is it every Thursday?

Logging back in after almost 2 years, not playing any games these days, but wow never expected this surprise. When this was actually informed?

Would be lovely - I hope top edges are back in this game. I found it curious that they weren't in AC17 when I thought they worked ok in DBC17

The World Cup is just one group of ten teams then semis so just like on Ashes Cricket 17, you’ll surely be able to create that. I haven’t played for a while but created leagues like that in custom tournament or whatever the option was. This is before we even consider if they have some sort of default WC option, having said that, weren’t all the league and competition templates there in Ashes 17?

In short, I’m pretty sure that you’ll be able to create a World Cup.

I get your point. I guess that moving that circle brings up alot of nostalgia from the 90's for me.

From my interactions with these threads I have figured out that people's perceptions of what a perfect cricket game is can be quite different and that's why it is really difficult to create the perfect game.

I will credit bigant for adding alot of different options and sliders etc to cater for these different views of opinion.
Yeah well that’s the problem, you can’t always please everybody. If big ant were to go too far one way for somebody then someone else wouldn’t be too happy. I guess it’s all about finding the right balance etc whether it be in game modes, sliders and of course control systems and I think currently they have that just right. But it is a challenge to make the perfect game. It will never be perfect for everyone unfortunately but that’s life lol

I'm not sure if this is appropriate for this title, or if it belongs in this particular forum, but, perhaps down the line, wouldn't it be great if we could tune umpires? So, perhaps assign each umpire an attribute that correlates to how likely they are to uphold or turn down an appeal. Maybe something like, Aggressive being more likely to give borderline decisions, Moderate as self-explanatory, and Defensive umpires favouring batsmen. Also, if we could assign them a rating in terms of their efficiency. So an umpire rated 100 never makes a mistake, and an umpire rated lower is more likely to make mistakes? Just a thought. Perhaps a bit too much. It might also bring the DRS into play more often.

On a side, more relevant to this upcoming title, I would like to be able to access the snicko and hot spot from match review this time around if possible.

EDIT: I have mentioned some career mode improvement suggestions already, but another one would be to see injuries come into play. Not just for our players, but all players. Fatigue might be a nice inclusion as well, but this may be wishful thinking.

Also, perhaps being able to change the camera while fielding in career mode would be nice too. I've always wanted to view the game as a broadcast in career mode and not being able to change the fielding camera after having bowled takes away from that a bit. May be if we were able to set fielding as automatic if we want and change the camera after having bowled a ball? That might be nice too.

@MattW re: sliders

Some kind of option of save settings slider variations would be welcome. Then we could load up specific ones for different times.
I also like this idea. Also, to make it easier, a prompt in the setup screen for "slider", where we are able to pick which sliders we want to apply before the game starts. Would be nice if it carries over to career mode as well.

Injuries and fatigue should have already been in the career mode. It adds realism to the game. In fact it should be criteria for team selection (if fatigued and stamina is less than 25 the player should be rested, always sprint for runs, it should affect his stamina). It inhuman to play all the games 365 days a year in Career mode. Hope it is included in Cricket 19.
