Can i change my answer to question 1 to USA and Canada? When I read the question, I was under the impression you were talking about TV coverage but the first match in the record books was between USA and Canada

He was talking about first one in TV Coverage.

Yes you can edit if you misunderstood before but NOT if you just feel like changing your answer.

I'm talking about recorded as in the result and stats were wrote down and kept to this day.

1. Who competed in the first ever recorded international cricket match?
United States and Canada

2. What is the name of Sir Ian Botham's son?
Liam James Botham

3. What is a beamer?
A beamer is a type of delivery in which the ball, without bouncing, passes above the batsman's waist height. Such a ball is dangerously close to the batsman's head, due to the lack of control a bowler has over high full tosses.

4. Why have the ICC banned Aleem Dar, Billy Bowden, Steve Bucknor and Rudi Koertzen from the Twenty20 World Cup final?

The 4 umpires didn't make the correct decisions in the 2007 World Cup Final. Huge controversy because the last few overs ended up being played in total darkness and the umpires should have taken action. They have been banned to forbid this from happening in the Twenty20 World Cup.

CALLING ALL APPRENTICES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ANSWER THE FOLLOWING QUESTIONS BY TOMORROW @ 12:00PM BST!!!!!!!!!!

1. Who competed in the first ever recorded international cricket match?

2. What is the name of Sir Ian Botham's son?

3. What is a beamer?

4. Why have the ICC banned Aleem Dar, Billy Bowden, Steve Bucknor and Rudi Koertzen from the Twenty20 World Cup final?

Nice task :D

And they're not banned, they just havent been asked to officiate due to the farce they call the World Cup Final 07 :D
!
EDIT: The actual words used by the ICC is to suspend them from officiating in the 20/20WC! So yeah, banned is similar, so my last comment is a bit watery but still true :p

1. Who competed in the first ever recorded international cricket match? England and Australia

2. What is the name of Sir Ian Botham's son?

Liam Botham

3. What is a beamer?

A full toss that is above waist height. It shall be deemed a no-ball. If more than 1 "Beamer" is bowled. The umpired may take the bowler off for the rest of the innings.

4. Why have the ICC banned Aleem Dar, Billy Bowden, Steve Bucknor and Rudi Koertzen from the Twenty20 World Cup final?
Because of the way they handled the World Cup Final. They had already played 20 overs in Sri lanka's innings and offered the batsmen the light. They took the light and the match should have been effectively over. But the umpires said that they must finish the final 3 overs. Whether it be in complete darkness or the next day.

1. Who competed in the first ever recorded international cricket match?
USA and Canada

2. What is the name of Sir Ian Botham's son?
Liam Botham, a cricketer turned rugby player

3. What is a beamer?
A delivery that doesnt hit the pitch and goes over waist height, can be incredibly dangerous although not always done on purpose

4. Why have the ICC banned Aleem Dar, Billy Bowden, Steve Bucknor and Rudi Koertzen from the Twenty20 World Cup final?
Due to the World Cup final and all the incidents which plagued the game due mostly to the fault of them

I will reveal the answers earlier than the deadline. This was not the second task, it was just a test of your knowledge on the fundamentals of the coaching job - the history of cricket, the life of the boss, the laws of cricket and current cricket affairs.

Here are the answers:

1. The first ever international cricket match, according to records, was played between Canada and the United States of America at Saint George's Club in New York in 1844. Canada won by 23 runs.

2. Liam Botham is Sir Ian's son. The 29 year old now runs a company with a friend that offers executive sporting trips to places like South Africa and Australia after retiring from Rugby League aged 27.

3. A beamer is a delivery that reaches the batsman above waist height without bouncing. In most cases, the bowler does not bowl a beamer intentionally but constant offences can see him banned from bowling for the remainder of the innings.

4. Umpires Steve Bucknor, Aleem Dar, Rudi Koertzen and Billy Bowden will not be allowed to officiate during the Twenty20 World Championship finals because of their poor handling of the 50 over World Cup final in 2007, which saw the last three overs bowled in near pitch blackness.

Congratulations to everyone that answered correctly - the second task will be posted later today.

Task Two

You are the coach of a high profile cricket team. Everything you do appears in the media - on television, newspapers, the internet, the lot.

Your team beat their arch rivals in the semi final of a competition and five of your players go out on the town to celebrate their success. They return completely drunk, just days before the final.

What do you do to discipline them? Do you punish them and make it public, bringing bad publicity to your team? Do you punish them and keep it quiet to avoid this publicity? How do you punish them?

Explain in 100 words or more how you would deal with this situation. This task must be completed by 4.00pm on Tuesday 26th June 2007 (British Summer Time).

I would impose a curfew of 11pm until the final and try and keep the curfew quite low brow to avoid media speculation and distraction of the players. My punishment after the final would depend largely on the result and I would let the public and team know this. If they win, no punishment whatsoever since they can clearly distinguish social life and getting down to business. I would impose a curfew of 2am, for all the time under my coaching, to prevent anything stupid happening and keep curfew of 11pm in the three day period before each match to make sure no people imposed by hangovers are playing. If they lose in the final, I would slap them with fines making it public* and let them know their selection for the upcoming matches is in question, making them having to work for success.

*I would make it public through a press release to make sure I can control what is said and what is not to some extent.

I would make a curfew for all of my players. I would not let the players have alcohol during the time of the tour/tournament.

From 10 days before the first match, until the end of the tour/tournament, all members of the team must be back in their hotel/home by 10pm. If they are caught out of their hotel/home without permission from the team manager, there will be severe consequences. If they were to be caught drinking alcohol, there will be severe consquences. Alcohol is dangerous and as cricket is the team’s main job, they must abide by the rules. Cricket is a job like any other job. Whenever they are on tour or in a tournament, they are working.

Once again, drinking alcohol the day before a game can affect performance heavily.

So in conclusion, anyone that was to be caught out of their hotel/house after 10pm or caught drinking alcohol, they would face sever punishments!

Do the answers etc by PM, otherwise everyone will see everyone elses answers etc.

I would keep the incident silent until after the competition then make it public. I would start by giveing those 5 players a very hard fitness session to let them know that they should not do it again. After that I will talk to them and ask them all sort of questions like why they did it, why didn't they wait until after the competition, ect. After that I would let them know that they will not be playing in the final and any captaincy or vice-captaincy will be stripped from them. They should know not to do it again. As I said after the tournament I will make it public why they didn't play in the final and handle the situation from there on. To avoid this from happening again I will make curfews from the next tour on. They should be at the hotel by 10 pm and if they are drunk they can know that they will not be playing the next match and they will have a tough fitness session the next morning bright and early. Alcohol damages your body and damages your performance also.

Going out for a drink late in the night would be fine. But to be completely drunk is out of order. The incident would not be held a secret and the whole cricketing world should name and shame these players. I would ban them for the final and I would even call some other player to join the squad if need be. The players would recieve a fine and a servere telling off. Going out for a drink should be fine after a hard earned days play. But to be drunk, before what would be, for most of them the biggest game of their careers is ridiculous. They deserve to be left out after acting in a completely unprofessional manner. They would have to prove their worth in domestic cricket before being put back into the team.

Task 2 - Drunken Cricketers

I understand that going out for a drink after a tough day of cricket against rivals is fair play, but like many people have said "coming back drunk" is unacceptable.

First of all, I would let them know they have to be back at the hotel by 22.00pm to make sure they are not too rowdy. Secondly, I would warn them that if that time is ignored and they disobey me, I will suspend them from the game.

To control the press, if and only if questions are asked, I would tell the media that it was a small situation and it has been dealt with in the proper way, and the boys are ready for the final.

I would continue to allow them to go out to drink in the team hotel and be responsible for their own actions. I would not tell the media and make sure that they don't drift too far outside the hotel complex. I would tell them that if the team didn't win the tournament then those 5 players would not receive their bonus for taking part in the tournament. You see, I'm hitting them where it hurts, their money!

The reason I would not tell the media is to not let team matters get outside the group. It should be sorted out within the team and not in the back pages of the tabloids.

I would make sure that during the day time, those players were getting as much fitness practice as possible, you never know, it might tire them out too much that they decide not to have a drinking session!
