The Pavilion

These are the events from the pavilion, in which Jack Teague and Sean B were called back in front of Sir Ian Botham to find out their fate:

Sir Ian Botham said:
"Welcome back to the pavilion, Jack and Sean. One of you will be given out today.

This is going to be an incredibly tough decision. Unlike the first task, you both put effort in and I like both of you.

Jack: you made the point that you wouldn't tolerate indiscipline in your team. I like that. If the players in Los Angeles were allowed to go out and get drunk every time they won a match they would walk all over you. There would be no discipline at all, so it is necessary to enforce punishments on those that misbehave. However, I don't believe that you can drop your best player, or players. Andrew Flintoff went out and got drunk during the World Cup in St Lucia, and he was stripped of the vice-captaincy and dropped for the following match. That match was a group stage one against lowly Canada though. I told you to write about players that were preparing for a final. That's a big match and it's not likely to be against a poor team like Canada were. England certainly wouldn't drop their best players back into the domestic competitions either. They are too important. Discipline is worth maintaining, but match results come first.

Sean: there are two extremes. Carelessly allowing your players to go out and get drunk, or keeping them in their hotel and banned from drinking a drop of alcohol. You chose the latter. Players will not appreciate being forced to return by 10.00pm. I felt you could have pushed that curfew back an hour. Also, you could have banned excessive drinking, not drinking altogether. You did emphasise the importance of discipline though, which is something I am looking for. A responsible coach for team.

Looking at both of your passages, they are very similar. This is a tough decision for me to make but I have to make it.

Alright, my decision is made:

JACK TEAGUE... YOU'RE OUT!!!

Sean, congratulations, you are into the third task. Good luck and see you next time."

Jack Teague becomes the second contestant given out by Sir Ian Botham on the grounds of their performance in the task.

Eight contestants remain - six have gone in the last two tasks. Sir Ian's search for his coach... continues.

that was treva??? DAMMIT!!! i didnt know... cya treva i hope you still love me

Bulltish! Ah well only a game and if I was running this "story" or anyone else for that matter they would have different opinions. Good luck to everyone else.

(Dropping your best players probably would work. Give others a chance to shine and prove their worth in big situations. Winning isn't everything)

but if you didnt win your spot as coach of the team wouldnt be for long

Trev, join the losers bench. We're crowding around a fire for warmth.

There is no shame in losing a final. If I had a team that wasn't the best in the competition I would be happy with getting to the final even if we didn't win :)

Botham confirms second series

Sir Ian Botham has confirmed that a second series of his television talent show Howzat for an Apprentice? will be produced.

Botham said there were "teething problems" with the first two episodes of the pilot series, which he will make sure to improve on for the second series.

"In the first two episodes of the first series, the contestants have submitted their completed tasks to the public, allowing others to steal ideas," said the 51 year old.

"In the second series, contestants will have to privately submit their completed tasks to one of the show's producers who then sends them to me." he added.

The show will take on a new title and a new region after television broadcasters in the United States refused to allow scheduling space for a new series.

The host country for the new series has not yet been revealed, but Germany is the early favourite with bookmakers, due to speeches made by Botham favouring the country recently.

The following is what the public know about the second series:

  • Contestants will have to submit completed tasks privately, instead of submitting them publicly as in the first series
  • Second series will not be based in the United States
  • Show will take on a new title

Task Three: winning over the fans

Sir Ian Botham said:
"A big thing for a coach of a cricket team is how much support he receives - Duncan Fletcher, for example, had no respect towards the end of his career from the England fans so he had to go.

As budding coaches, I want you to go away and get some supporters. Think of this as an election campaign. The two contestants that come back with the least supporters when the deadline passes will be called back to the pavilion. Good luck."
