The numbers gathered from this match have already been taken into account while calculating the statistics for the tournament, which makes the result quite official in the eyes of the IOC. Therefore, tie-breaking decision made earlier shall stand. Any inconvenience caused is deeply regretted.

Charles Macartney heroically sealed a tie for Australia by carting Frank Woolley for 14 off the final over of the innings, which included a four off the final delivery. Unlike the tied match between the West Indies and Ireland, deciding the result of this match was far simpler with Australia having lost 6 wickets in their innings to Great Britain's 7. Great Britain's long streak of winning either Gold or Silver medals in every Olympics since 1896 had finally come to an end.

Now at the peak of his cricketing career, George Challenor looked unrecognizable from the batsman who looked a complete misfit in the Olympics 12 years previously. He crafted a masterful 105 off 163 deliveries against a Test class South African bowling attack, and with some help from Learie Constantine helped West Indies recover from 78/5 to post a very challenging total of 239.

Man of the match: George Challenor (West Indies)
That was commendable performance for the bowling attack but of course the star of the match was the good ol' George. The South Africans bowled exceedingly well but the partnership between Challenor and Constantine put the match in our favor. Once we had 230+ on the board, I knew we could defend it. What a great time for both Challenor and Constantine to show their batting prowess. I thought the extras given away by the South Africans also played their part. It is going to be one tough match for the bronze medal for South Africa.
It feels great to have finally secured a medal and that before getting the test status but our aim should be winning the gold and inspire upcoming players like Roach, Headley, Passailaigue and Martindale to do well for the WI.

The Australians have been good with the bat and we might need more firepower in bowling. Hoad has not been doing much for us while Small was great with bat and ball in RL during the 1920s so we will have Hoad to carry drinks while Small will take his place with exact same lineup we fielded against Ireland. The batting form of George and Constantine is a good boost going into the final. We firmly believe despite the odds being against us, we can win the gold if we play to our potential like we have in the previous match.
