Given the way CB Fry was batting on this particular day, there was no telling how much Great Britain could have posted if only rain hadn't intervened. He was cruelly denied a surefire century by Zeus himself.

France looked all at sea against two of the most miserly bowlers in Olympic history in Colin Blythe and Wilfred Rhodes. They crumbled to 101 all out, nonetheless a huge improvement compared to their previous result against the same opponents in 1900.

Canada could consider themselves unfortunate, running into Bart King almost every time they've played the United States since 1892. But with the year being 1906, they were more unfortunate than ever before as King was now at the very peak of his powers as a player, having just posted a record 315 in the Halifax Cup the year before. He obviously couldn't post that much on these here Greek wickets, but a score of 89 in a rain-affected match is pure class nonetheless.

Being ever so ahead of his contemporaries in every regard, King then wrecked the Canadian lineup with 5 wickets coming at the cost of 26 runs from his 7 overs. Despite resistance from Jack Laing and the Canadian lower-order, they fell well short of the American total in the end. That's 3-0 in favor of the United States in the Olympics dating back to their first ever encounter in 1896.

Too easy.
Bart King is a freak.

we had a chance to win, but opposite team shown more passion and take the match from us...

Bart King... Y U do dis?

Excellent work from the States there. I don't really see any reason to change things for the semi-finals

Lineup rules

1) A proper wicket-keeper (:wk:/:wkb:) in your XI.
2) A minimum of 6 players marked to bowl.
3) Players ruled out due to injury cannot be selected.
4) Lineup restrictions/quotas as mentioned in the match details must be followed.
5) I don't usually wait more than 72 hours for lineups in this league.

Player rarities

In each squad, players have been marked with these icons to give you a fair idea of their playing skills and overall usefulness to your team.

:purpo: - Legend. Used for the players that are undoubtedly the best of the lot.
:goldo: - Gold. Used for players with a high level of consistency and ability to deliver during key moments.
:redo: - Ruby. Used for players that are extremely talented and can play in a way no one else can replicate.
:slvo: - Silver. Used for players that aren't as talented as their Gold/Ruby/Legend contemporaries, but still capable of holding their own against the best in business.
:bro: - Bronze. Used for players that are a level below Silver. They are more likely to put in good performances than players from the Sapphire/Crystal category.
:blueo: - Sapphire/Crystal. Used for players that are inexperienced or with a lower skill set compared to those from a higher category. They could either put in good performances or fail miserably.

Statistics

To be updated after the semi-finals.

Explanation on pitch types

Damp/Sticky - Massively in favor of bowlers and an absolute nightmare to bat on, unless you're Victor Trumper.
Evenly balanced - Provides an evenly balanced contest for all disciplines.
Green - A lot of movement on offer, which makes it ideal for bowlers capable of swinging the ball. Quite regular to find in most European countries.
Hard - Ideal conditions for batting. Good deal of bounce on offer for fast bowlers as well. Could go either way.
Dry/Slow - Ideal for slow and spin bowlers as the name suggests. Sometimes quite difficult to bat on.

Tip Snooke clubbed his way to a 90-ball 64 containing 4 sixes after being given a surprise promotion up the order. It was an innings of sheer determination while the rest of his team-mates faltered against the brilliant bowling of Monty Noble and Jack O'Connor. South Africa were bundled out for 132 in just 38.4 overs, and Warwick Armstrong wasn't even required to have a bowl.

A 68-run partnership between James "Sunny Jim" Mackay and Monty Noble helped steer Australia's innings on course after the early setback of losing Victor Trumper in the very first over of their innings. It still proved an extremely difficult run chase in these conditions, but they eventually made it with 2 wickets to spare. The Australians were through to the final of the 1906 Intercalated Games, leaving South Africa to battle it out for a Bronze medal with the loser of the 2nd Semi-final to be played between Great Britain and the United States of America.

Arthur Fielder and Walter Lees' early strikes had all but devastated the American top and middle-orders, leaving them reeling at a woeful 35/5. Christy Morris struck a fluent half-century from No 7 to help prevent them from further embarrassment, adding 61 runs for the 8th wicket alongside Ranji Hordern. The United States eventually finished with 168, which might prove a difficult target for any team except perhaps Great Britain, who possess perhaps the strongest batting lineup of the competition. Still, one cannot underestimate the bowling strength the Americans possess, which can be matched only by a select few international teams.

Percy Clark and Ranji Hordern stepped up to deliver America some very crucial wickets while their usual spearhead Bart King had a rare off-day with the ball. King still had enough in him to deliver the final and most crucial wicket of them all, that of Colin Blythe with Great Britain just three runs short of their target. Ten years on from their famous triumph in 1896 at this very venue, the United States had once again humbled the British at their own game. This time however, they will be facing Australia, whom they also famously beat in 1896 in what was the first recorded match in Olympic history, in the final. Australia haven't lost a single Olympic match since that encounter.
