End of 50 overs
Indians needed 70 runs in the lat 10 overs at 7.00 runs per over and with Sachin Tendulkar and Mahendra Singh Dhoni at the crease it was not gonna be so difficult . Nuwam Kulasekera continued and just conceded 7 runs of the over . India were going on the right track and Sri Lankans needed a wicket over here to bring this match back . Mendis was given his last over and Mahela was expecting some magic from him . He did it . Dhoni went for the big one but completely mistimed it and an easy catch for Chamara Silva at long off . Sri Lankans were full of joy as Indian skipper departed .
H.Bhogle : Dhoni goes huge but he is out!!! Easy catch for Chamra Silva at long on and Dhoni goes for 17 of 15 balls and Indians are 217/5 .
Harbhajan Singh was the new man in to replace the skipper . Tendulkar had a good chat with him saying not to play some silly shots . Kulasekera continued and the highlight of the over was Tendulkar raised his 42nd century with a brilliant cover drive for 4 . The crowd stood to give big round of applause for the little master . Vaas was bought into the attack . And straight away Harbhajan welcomed him with two lucky boundaries . Harbhajan getting two outside edges beating the keeper for four . Useful runs for the Indians . The partnership between Sachin and Harbhajan was steading the innings and taking India closer to victory . But as victory was insight the Indians get excited and thats what happened with harbhajan . He went to smash Kulasekera for a big on instead was caught by Jayasuriya at square leg . Indians lost their 7th wicket .
R.Shastri : Harbhajan goes for the big one and a stupid shot in the end easy catch for Jayasuriya and Harbahajan departs for 11 of 9 balls and Indians are in some trouble at 242/7 .
Praveen Kumar came in . The Uttar Pradesh opener had good expectation behind him . His role was just to support the Little master . But it didnt happen . Praveen Kumar went for the big one himself and got a top edge and was easily caught by Kulasekera himself and that was the 8th wicket to fall .

RP Singh replaced Praveen Kumar . But the best thing for India was that Sachin was on strike . Tendulkar smashed two brilliant boundaries of Vaas as the Indians got very close to victory . The first boundary he hit was between mid wicket and long on and the next was the pull shot over short fine leg . RP Singh was on the strike . Vaas continued and RP Singh swung his bat and got the inside edge which ran down for 4 . Useful runs for India . But the next ball Vaas struck and saw the back of RP Singh .

Sachin Tendulkar faced Kulasekera . Sachin smashed him over his head for a boundary . Indians in the driving seat . Next ball Sachin takes the single and gives strike to Zaheer Khan . Zaheer Khan hits it towards deep mid wicket Indians take quick two runs . Last ball of the over Sachin Tendulkar on strike . Sachin hits it towards mid on and runs for a quick single . Throw by Jayasuriya at the strikers end and it hits . Zaheer Khan is run out as he well out of his crease . Sri Lankans celebrate the victory . Tendulkar's hard work is in vain .
