Gary Anderson is one of the few players on the planet who can beat Phil Taylor when Taylor is playing well. He won the International Darts League and the World Darts Trophy, both these competitions comprise of BDO and PDC players. Anderson won the World Darts Trophy 7-3 (sets) against Taylor, both players averaged over 100. Anderson beat Mark Webster in the IDL 13-9 (legs) and Webster (BDO World champs no.1 seed) beat Taylor in an earlier round in the tournament. Anderson also got to the semi-final of the Grand Slam of Darts and gave Taylor a huge scare. Taylor won 13-11 and went on to dominate against Andy Hamilton, winning 18-11 in the final (led 14-5 at one point).
I think they said in the BDO WC commentary that Anderson won 7 titles in total in 2007 and he is currently ranked as number 1 by a country mile. Don't let his first round BDO WC defeat fool you.
I have to say the standard of the BDO World Championship is possibly the worst I've seen this year, I can't defend it. Only 5 players (out of 32) in the 1st round averaged over 90. That is compared to the 16 in the 2nd round (last 32 of the PDC) of the PDC WC.
