DBC14 | Full Game Play with BARS Video

They would be playing round the clock in order to do QA and Testing. I am pretty sure that one will come across a DRS that they wanted to depict. This is not a reasonable arguement.
You're not sitting there capturing HD video of every second of QA, especially on the off chance it will give you the result needed to get a decision overturned on review after an lbw of a particular player.

...however if there's a job at BigAnt for "guy who sits and plays the game all day and records it in HD"... I know a guy who gets that stuff.

If engineering the video was indeed the root cause of all this, the BA team could easily have uploaded another video of something similar to put to bed all the negativity with respect to Bat Tapping, Bowler Animation, Missed Runout, Scoreboard etc. (With all the QA and Testing this won't be an added burden)

But then again, they can easily do all of that once they show long length gameplay videos!! There is a lot of time left till the release of this game.....whats the hurry!

Except it was a real BARS situation, intended to show us an EXACT BARS scenario in a controlled manner. "Playing the game" with FRAPS (laughing out loud) would result in us seeing a bunch of stuff they prolly don't want us to see yet and/or may not trigger the exact scenario that they can easily control using a DEBUG mode.

They want to give the BEST presentation they possibly can, it's like asking why they don't just upload an hour of random gameplay after beer o'clock at the office...

Why do you think Game companies and Movie studios hire companies to produce trailers for them at HUGE expense?

This was not a full fledged marketing trailer. It was just a single delivery with DRS which is not that rare and would pretty frequently manifest during QA .

You can easily edit the video captured through Fraps in a matter of seconds to just upload what you want.

I agree with your point that companies hire professionals but this video is amateurish at best and has only resulted in negative publicity. I am sure that is not what Big Ant wanted.

I would love to apply for that job :yes

You talk about irrational logic...and you come out and say the video has only resulted in negative publicity. Are you choosing to ignore all the positives to come out of the video?

Why are you choosing to ignore the fact that it isn't a simple matter of capturing all the QA footage? Why ignore the explanation that comes from Big Ant themselves?

This was not a full fledged marketing trailer...

...annnnnnnnnnnnnd you've lost me. Yes it was. It comes from the studio that's making the game and has to go through approvals. It's about as "marketing" as you can get. You're wrong. There's no "negative publicity", unless the daily planet is reporting on cricket games... pretty sure Lois is busy.

FRAPS is not a PROFESSIONAL tool*, get a grip.

*Unlike you. BOOM.

Biggs out.

My dear Frodo, please carefully read the first page of this thread and you will find answers to most of your questions.

I agree with the majority, and not the attention seekers - It's looking very good indeed and I can't wait to have a bash.

If I had to register one (incredibly minor) objection, no-one seems to have noticed the disappearing bat-stickers at 43secs in... after the abuse the other guys got for having them backwards it feels fair to slap a wrist on that... :)

Thanks Chief.

You had me worried when I looked at it on YouTube - just downloaded it from the YouTube page as an mp4, played it in VLC and captured this below, looks like it must be YouTube artefacts that make it look like it disappears.

From people desperately trying to pick holes in it.

Considering how many people were banging on about the previous BARS video as being a 'cut scene' and the like, something that's 'amateurish' should help demonstrate that they aren't lying when they show of the still images or shots from other camera angles.

People outside Big Ant will be playing this game very soon - they've got nothing to gain trying to set false expectations - they'd be called out before the first copy is sold. If you need to read more into a minute long video than there is to keep expectations low, that's wonderful, but every substantive point of complaint has in my view adequately been explained by Big Ant.

In normal speed that looks like a reflection ... probably the light reflecting from the shiny stickers .. Actually it looks good :p

Thanks Chief.

Next time can we just have the raw files uploaded to PC please??? There are a lot of artifacts caused by youtube and then people take them as flaws in the game!!

PS: Am surprised noone talked about the ball getting eaten up by the pads :p!!!

Ya, probably play till you get a good review to show us with Fraps recording/similar stuff ON, trim the video down, and release it...:D

Thing is you're just not going to see that stuff when you're playing the game anyways... a missing wicket keepers body or stickers on the wrong way you're ABSOLUTELY going to notice. There's some legitimate stuff I had read in the old thread about the comet trail being distracting, but until we're PLAYING the thing we're no going to know how it functions...

That's about the only considered critique I've seen with any merit. Everything else is people just looking for attention, the game looks GREAT. Stick it side-by-side with any other video from C07 to IC10 and it's MILES ahead on visuals alone.

Seeing the video again I noticed how realistic the ball looked bouncing off after hitting the pads.....looks like we would have a lot of realistic looking leg byes as well in the game :cheers!!
