Dec 16-20: 3rd Test - Australia v England at Perth

While they are moving the order around, I think it's time to promote Siddle over Harris in the batting order, and of course Haddin before Smith

Who will bat at 3 for Ponting? Surely not Clarke. I'd say Huss, but they really need him at 5.

I don't agree about Australia potentially losing Ponting being a positive. Despite his form he has the class to score big 100s and England would much rather bowl at whoever might be brought in than Ponting. The second innings at Brisbane showed that he is still dangerous.
As for all the people who last week were saying that England were going to win 4-0 and now are saying we're going to lose the series get a sense of perspective.
Yes we're going to lose this match but I still think we're favourites for the Ashes. Take out Mike Hussey and Australia are basically 3-0 down at the moment. Man for man we're definitely got the edge.
Collingwood's form is a worry but as was Morgan's in the tour match. Don't see the point in bringing in another seamer as we've bowled pretty well.

I see No difference in the english and australian fans when the team are in deep crap. or in the best position. lol.

Khawja in for Ponting?? The best moment last night was haddins catch of ponting. That was good alertness.

Australia v England: Ponting fracture confirmed by X-rays | Cricket News | The Ashes 2010-11 | ESPN Cricinfo

Fracture's been confirmed - small fracture on his left hand. We'll see if he tries to play through it. Given Katich's poor performance in India with a dodgy hand, and Ricky's own poor run last summer with the bad elbow, I'm not sure I like the idea of him getting through 2 Tests on pain killing injections, with zero practice and his confidence down.

Why not pick Khawaja and have him open with Hughes, then Watson bats at 3. Might make people feel better than having Usman and Clarke together at 3 and 4.

I think you're right. Ponting is still the big wicket, even though he's been the least successful of the series thus far. What's more interesting to me is how Clarke might go as captain.

Ponting out potentially. NOT CLARKE AS Captain... Although he did produce a wicket as a captain last ball...

But hopefully if we see australia starting lose it, we can bring ponting onto the field and let him captain for a few overs and send him off.

Clarke as captain seems to be working. 2 wickets in the last 5 overs. One last night, and one early this morning. Might be telling us something :p

To be fair, it was all going pretty well anyway... just saying

When was the last time England lost a test without getting smashed? Was it Pakistan?
