Dec 16-20: 3rd Test - Australia v England at Perth

The Aussies will bounce back. How- that I do not know. But, when they have been down and out, they generally put up a great fight.

Ponting may lose the captaincy but he is still good enough as a batsman imo.

As War mentioned above, they do not have a good vice-captain. I do not feel that M Clarke is worthy of being the Aussie skipper. He is definitely not in the league of Taylor, Waugh, Gilly or Ponting.

If Ponting goes, it will be after 2011. CA will not burden the new skipper with the immediate task of the all important World Cup.

IF ponting Goes it is obvious for good choice that White should be ODI capt. but who would be the best test captain??

Either Clarke or somebody unknown...

I'd just like to say, I love where this picture is going

Cameron White for ODI's and T20. The reality is they really don't have anyone who can captain them in Test matches. I'd have said Binga, but he has since retired and the others are on their way out one by one.

This time round, their succession plans haven't materialized to the extent they would have wanted them to.

Face it, he won't come back. That would be like a great backward step for the Aussies. Though if he does come back ,you do have a successor to Ponting ;)

I think it's all because the Aussies are on a losing spree. Give them the Perth Test. I am sure they ll bounce back and they will so pretty strongly. Given the harsh reaction of former captains and fans all around, they really will have to step up their game.

I for one can understand the Australian Selectors wanting to bring the likes of Warne back. Rumours have it that they are thinking of asking other past greats back as well. The want the team have a more consistent look to it: it is better if the whole team looks like a bunch of over the hill part-timers looking for a day job whilst texting beer orders at deep fine leg.

*Asbestos jacket? Check. Oven gloves? Check. Troll Patrol? Check. Houston we have lift-off!*

Finn one would expect. Although, if England are concerned about his on poor ball per over or that it takes him time to find his rhythm, it could be the new guy.

So is Finn going to open at Perth or will it be the guy coming in?

Depends which way they see it and who they bring in. Trremlett is going to be very close to getting it but Finny might still get it. While if they bring in Bresnan or Shahzad Finn will almost definitely get it.

Sounds like we can expect the following changes when the selectors officially announce the squad.

Out - North, Bollinger, Doherty, Katich
In - Smith, Johnson, Hauritz, Hughes

Happy enough with that, could do with less Johnson but it seems all the selectors did was rest him and tried to work on him. I pray it works else the selectors need to stop pissing around with him and ditch him until he properly sorts himself out. Him and Hauritz will help out with the lower order and ease the mind of those that don't quite rate Smith's batting in particular the selectors themselves.

I dunno, if they were texting beer orders instead of tweeting apologies, maybe things would be different. At least there'd be more beer.

I know Bollinger was poor, but his record is good, surely you'd back him for more than 1 test? Or has Johnson suddenly got rid of his issues? Don't see that logic, I'm afraid.
