Practice-Before the match...​

So after having 2 hours sleep I woke up and got ready to practice. I went down stairs and saw Karthick he said to me I want you to quickly go to the practice nets don't waste any time. So I straight away went to the nets,I saw everyone practicing there and got keen to do some batting practice as well.. I saw my coach giving Gayle some batting tips and went to him. I said to him Sir I am keen to do some batting practice. He replied yes ofcourse,Take your bat and go into the net,Nehra will be the bowler. I said to myself,Ah,as expected Nehra the genius will bowl to me. :sarcasm

Nehra first few balls were just unplayable for me. He was so quick and his line was hard to hit. But after few minutes I started taking risks,My coach was looking impressed then. Once I started hitting Nehra,I made sure I don't change my batting and play normally. Then my coach asked Hauritz to bowl me few bowls and oh my god I was not at all able to play Haurtiz. He was turning the bowl so much,That gave me a indication that I need to improve my batting against spinners. After few minutes my coach came to me and asked Hauritz to go to other net because he wanted to talk to me,Whatmore said that see Adi you are a good batsman but your back foot is really poor and hence you are not able to play spinner. You need to work on it but don't worry my job is to improve your batting so be chill do not worry. I smiled and replied thanks sir I am sure that I will help Delhi to win this year. Whatmore said ha ha,don't think about winning,Play t20 cricket for enjoyment don't think about winning. Then Whatmore said that now just 4 hour are left for the play to start go to the rooms have a short bath and after 1 hour we will meet at the basement so that we can leave for the stadium. Also Whatmore mentioned that this year our Delhi Daredevils official site has a new system called "Raise Your Voice"... In that people have to give their suggestions to the team and the best suggestion given by the member of the site will be awarded 10,000 vcash price.

I went to my room,opened my laptop and saw the feature. I was impressed and decided that now I have to take IPL more seriously because I don't want anybody to post negative comments against my batting on the site. Now we have 2 hours rest after that we will leave for the stadium...

Before the match...​

So after sleeping for an hour or so,I went down the stairs to see what my team is up to and saw them ready with their kit bags. I went back to my room,washed my face and picked up my cricket bag. My coach Dav Whatmore shouted "Common guys no more delays quickly I want all of you in the bus"... We all went in our buses and the driver switched on the radio. Atmosphere in the team was just great,All of them were friendly and always ready to help. So the driver started the radio and the channel was 93.7. Few of my favorite songs were running but the thing which was quite funny was that all the foreign cricketers were enjoying the Indian songs as well. I wonder how. :sarcasm Anyways after an half an hour journey we reached to Barabati Stadium, Cuttack. We all went out from our buses and went to the respective team pavilions. Ah,It was great to see the pavilion to be honest there were some painting there,photos of matches and most importantly a shirt of Delhi Daredevils which had sign of all the players except me. Then my coach,Dav Whatmore came to me and said hey can you see that shirt? I said yeh,it looks great btw. Whatmore said yeh it does,Go ahead and sign on that shirt. I said should I sig sir? Whatmore said ye yeh,You only go ahead and he pushed me and gave me his pen. I signed there and Whatmore said that now you are part of our team and whatever other players do you have to do respectively expect making girl friends. I laughed. :laugh Then Whatmore said common Aditya just 1 hour left for match to start go to the ground and do some practice our team will be decided in half an hour just before the toss. I said OK Coach.

I picked up my plain bat without any sponsor and then someone shouted from the pavilion hey Aditya come back here. I wondered what has happened now. I went to the pavlion and the men who was shouting was again my sweet coach. :o I said yes coach,Whatmore said one most important thing which you need is Delhi Daredevils kit. Here is the kit,Aditya. Remember you are playing for Delhi make sure you make Delhi people happy with your batting,Take this seriously now.. Go ahead take this jersey and enjoy also take this practice jersey. I took both the jerseys from my coach and said thanks. Coach said its fine now go to wash room and change your clothes. I was wearing jeans and shirt I thought we play in practice nets in this dress only. So I went to the washroom and changed my clothes. My Delhi Daredevils practice kit looks like this btw.

Then I went to the practice nets and my coach was there because on basis of the practice he will select the team. My coach said Irfan Pathan to bowl me few deliveries. Pathan came running I was bit worried,I defended first few balls. Pathan was bowling very well,He was changing line and length consistently and was getting bit swing as well. But I thought I am here for a t20 match so lets take few chances so I decided to hit some biggies but I was not able to smash Pathan maybe because I was a bit nervous. Anyways after few minutes practice session ended and Pathan came to me and said see Aditya few times you try to smash the bowl before it comes to your bat and you mistime the bowl completely. So watch the bowl closely and play freely. I said yes Irfan,But well bowled mate. Pathan said thanks you. I talked to Pathan. Anyways after 5 minutes our team was announced and I was selected in the team which was a bit obvious. But my coach came to me and said see Aditya I was not much happy with your batting in nets but only because we need a opener you are selected in the team. You will be given fair chances but make sure you make some runs in the IPL. Play freely and enjoy t20 cricket. I said yes ofcourse sir,This is my first match so not sure how I will play but I'm sure I will do something good for my team in this IPL. Whatmore said that what we need and he went away to other players. Our team is as follows :-

So after the team was announced it was toss time. In the pavlion we sat on the chairs and this time I was not watching the toss on tv it was live in the ground. This is how the toss went on...

RS : Its toss time here at Barabati Stadium,Cuttack. Gilly has the coin,Dinesh to call.....and Dinesh calls Heads

RS : And it is tails... So Gilly what will you do batting or bowling?

AG : We will bat first Ravi....

AG : Atmosphere in the stadium is great so we would like to put some runs on the scorecard and will try to restrict Delhi Daredevils.

RS : OK,Gilly any changes in your side.

AG : No changes in the side currently we have few injuries as well so we are struggling for replacement but in my opinion my team players are performing well and let's see how they play in today's match.

RS : OK Gilly I wont waste your further time best of luck for the match.

AG : Thanks Ravi....

RS : Now I would like to have few words with Dinesh

RS : So Karthick all set for this exciting match. What would have you done if you would have won the toss?

DK : We would have batted first as well but I have faith in my bowlers and this pitch wont change much as well till the end of the match so yeh if we restrict them to a good score we can win...

RS : You guys are on a winning track but Gambhir had an accident last week and a new player Aditya is in the side who has just come to the team after playing the ranji match and scoring 72 in his first match. Your thoughts on him

DK : He is a fine players,New to this format but I am sure he will improve. He has just come to the side so he will need time to get in the side but I am sure he will improve and will play some good innings in this year IPL.

So we lost the toss. But as Karthick said we have good bowlers in our side and we can restrict Deccan to a good score. Now it was time to be ready for the match lets see how we play,Hopefully well. :upray

It is Dinesh Karthik. Again the problem is writing. You're improving but still you have to put in a lot of effort. The toss update could easily have come in next and you could have presented it in a much better manner.

The thing I like about you is that you keep going on. That is the way it should be. Just try and keep on improving. If you take my advice, I'll tell you to concentrate on just one story so that you do not hurry or mess the updates.

Thanks for the advice,I agree that sometimes I mess up the updates that is because when I started this story I thought to complete this quickly because it is just about IPL. But members were not much interested in the stories and hence I got plan of Ranji Trophy and it messed it up a lot. Now I am trying to get this story back on track and once I quickly start posting matches this will get back on track and better than ever.

Brilliant Pathan won the match for Delhi!!!​

Irfan Pathan's 6 wickets helped DD to win​

Deccan Chargers openers came to bat. We were confident enough,We knew that our bowling attack is good enough to restrict Deccan to a good score. Any score of 130 to 140 would be good to chase. But we restricted them to even less then that. Gilchrist got off to a good start by hitting few boundaries but lost his wicket soon. Gilchrist tried to go for a big strokes but completely misjudged the bowl and bowl rapped onto his pads. We all shouted Howzat!!!... And Umpire raised his finger. Gilchirst went back to the pavilion.

After Gilchrist wicket there was no sort of a recovery. Wickets were falling in regular sessions and Me and My team was very happy with the performance after all winning is winning. Irfan Pathan was on fire,He took 6 wickets total in the innings. He was changing his line and length very well and mainly got wickets with his slow ball. Pitch was good to bat on but Deccan Chargers batsman were not really playing that well. When just 1 wicket was left I was given the bowl and I took a wicket as well of Umar Gul and Deccan Chargers innings rapped up for just 100. We all were very happy with the performance.

Now it was time for me and Sehwag to start our batting. Our plan was to take singles rather than trying to hit big strokes and loosing our wickets. Sehwag smashed few boundaries as well but I was not taking risks and was rotating the strike. But on 17 I lost my wicket. Harbhajan Singh bowled a flipper,I was on front foot tried to smash it on straight but completely missed it and got bowled. When I was going back to the pavilion Sehwag said don't worry Aditya. Well played,You took the singles and most importantly we have given our team the start we wanted. I smiled and went back to the pavilion.

After few runs we lost two quick wickets and we all in the pavilion started thinking what will happen now? But Pietersen made sure that there is not twist in the match and win the match for us. A great match really for us. Pathan was just brilliant and was awarded Man Of The Match award...

Fired up Hayden won the match for Kings XI Punjab!!!​

Matthew Hayden's brilliant century made sure that Kings XI Punjab win​

Winning the toss and bowling first was the decision from Kings XI Punjab. Kings XI Punjab lost few wickets but Imran Nazir played really well for his 89. Punjab lost two early wickets but then Michael and Nazir made sure that they construct the innings again and try to help their team to make a big score. Nazir was dismissed for 89 in the 16th over and then there was nothing special in the innings and Chennai Super Kings were able to make 178. Chennai Super Kings lost wicket of McCullum in the very first over but Matthew Hayden the young man made sure that he plays a special knock. He was supported well by Yuvraj but what a innings that man played. Their were some biggies from his bat and he went to the pavilion 106 not out and most importantly winning the match for his team. He was also given the man of the match award.

Match 17​

So Mumbai Indians won the toss and decided to bat first. They lost two early wickets of Ganguly and Sachin and after few runs they lost Jayasuriya as well. Innings was not on track and they needed someone to play a big innings and make sure that the team reached a respective total and Gibbs did the job. Gibbs started his innings by taking singles but after 12 overs approximately,Gibbs decided to play big strokes and paced off the innings well. Dumminy did well to rotate the strike and Mumbai Indians were able to make 173 inspite of loosing few quick wickets. Kolkata Knight Riders continued their bad run but Dilshan was just brilliant. But he had no support from other end and Kolkata were just able to make 140.

Off the field action...​

So after winning our previous match we all were quite happy and satisfied with our performance. Our coach,Whatmore said that the new system launched on DD site "Raise Your Voice" is started now. Before every match we will check the suggestions. The member who will give best suggestion will get 5,000 vcash price. You just need to post your suggestion on bowling or batting or team line-ups... Member who will consistently give good suggestions will get to meet Delhi Daredevils side. Anyways after the match we went to a disco and both the teams,Deccan and Delhi enjoyed very much. I saw Gilchrist and went running to him to get few suggestions and let me tell one thing that Gilly was very friendly. He didn't showed that he is a big player or anything he was very simple and friendly. I asked Gilly about my batting and he said I can't judge you with just seeing you in one match but one thing is that work on your back foot. You are bit weak against spinner only because of poor back foot improve it and I am sure you will be a better batsman. We talked about various things but this advice was most important. In the party players were dancing and singing,some of them were talking to girls as well. :o There were few drinks available in the disco as well but I preferred coke. :drink After 2 hours we went back to our hotel rooms to rest and prepare for the next match from next day. Don't forget to post your valuable advices which will help us to improve.

Royal Challengers Bangalore completely outplayed!!!​

Laxmipathy Balaji bowled brilliant and won the match for CSK​

Match 18​

Chennai Super Kings won the toss and elected to bat first. Pitch was good for batting and it was going to be slow as the game goes on. Chennai started off poorly with loosing 3 wickets for just 36 runs but Yousuf Pathan continued his good form and showed that he can make runs consistently. He was supported well by the experienced man Steve Waugh. On a good slow batting pitch Chennai Super Kings managed to make 153 which was a good total. Royal Challengers Bangalore were very disappointing to be said at least. Except Redmond no one was able to play a good innings and they were just able to make 92. Laxmipathy Balaji bowled brilliantly well,He took 4 wickets for just 17 runs. A convincing victory for Chennai and the man of the match was given to a bowler (surprisingly) Balaji who bowled very well.

Hayden hero of the win!​

Matthew Hayden's 67 took Kings XI Punjab to a win​

Rajasthan Royals lost the toss and were put onto bat by Kings XI Punjab. Rajasthan Royals got off to a very poor start,They lost 3 wickets for just 29 runs. But then Brad Hodge hold the innings together and made a very helpful 61 for his team. Kumar Sangakkara did the job of rotating the strike and he was successful in it. Marcus North made some quick runs in the end and Rajasthan Royals were able to make a total of 151. Kings XI Punjab batting started,They got off to a slow but a good start. They lost two quick wickets when the score was 46 but Matthew Hayden used his experience and made sure that he plays till the end. He was supported well by Yuvraj,Captain of the team. In the end because of attacking batting by Hayden and Yuvraj Kings XI Punjab won in the 15th over. Man of the match award was given to Matthew Hayden.
