I reckon DD could do what RR did in the first season. They didn't have a strong team on paper but they rallied around Warne, and I reckon these guys could do the same under Viru.

And I hope Irfan performs really well so he forces his way back into the minds of the Indian selectors.

I must say this is the ultimate chance for Irfan Pathan to prove his mettle and show Indian selectors what he is capable of. I don't mind if DD lose, but I want Irfan Pathan to perform.

I was supporting DD till last season. But without Dishan, Gambhir, deVilliers and Nannes, this side is looking like minnows. :p

----------

I want this playing XI against MI -

David Warner
Virender Sehwag (captain)
Naman Ojha (w)
Venugopal Rao
Aaron Finch
Robin Bist
Irfan Pathan
James Hopes
Sridharan Sriram
Umesh Yadav or Ajit Agarkar
Morne Morkel

:cheers

Man, I really hope Irfan comes good. I still think he is a better bet than Yusuf at number 7. If Sachin phases out of ODIs a bit again I could see Irfan doing wonders for India, especially outside the SC.

Gambhir was the main player around which dd worked
Just because now he is the captain of your team, you begin to praise him, huh? :p

And Gambhir was never the main player of the Daredevils. The side was always most dependent on Sehwag, Dilshan, de Villiers, Nannes and Mishra. With such a strong batting unit, Gambhir never looked the most important player, but certainly he did support Viru very well and I'm sure that Sehwag will miss his company.

Somehow, Sehwag comes across as a reluctant captain. As a ardent DD fan, I hope he leads the team well. One thing which we definitely have is one of the best coaches in the IPL.

----------

All of our main overseas players are with RCB now, but I am not worried because our coach, Greg Shipperd recommended Warner and Nannes and they did wonders for us. Now we have a lot of players from Victoria, surely on the recommendation of Shipperd and I am sure that he would have done some research before asking the management to go for those players.
In fact, both Warner and Nannes really came into reckoning for Australia after the IPL. (Yes, Warner had played that blistering knock against SA, but DD had signed him before that). Similarly, Nehra came back into Indian team primilarily due to his fitness and form in IPL-2. So DD does throw up very good players. Wonder who it would be this time?

even though i have supported the double 'D's from 3 seasons i dont give them a chance beyond a top 4 finish because:

1)They lack international exposure and apart from Sehwag,Irfan and Morkel all the other guys are inexperienced.
2)The catchment players they have got aren't the best of the lot as compared to other teams.
3)The overseas players are all from Australia or South Africa so the player are used to the pitches there and i strongly think they should have got players especially from Sri Lanka because their the pitches are pretty much similiar to India.
4)They dont have a specialist spinner in their team because van der Merwe is just a bits and pieces player.

but they also can do something similiar to what Warne's Royals did in 2008 because:

1)They have got some players who are suited to T20 more than other forms who we call "T20 Specialist".
2)The thing that they are the underdogs can help them as it did to SL in the World Cup.
3)They have many all rounders in their ranks like McDonald,Hopes,Pathan, van der Merwe which can help the team as all-rounders are one of the main part of the team especially in T20.
4)Their pace attack looks good with Morne Morkel as overseas player and players like Agarkar,Dinda,Pathan and Umesh Yadav..

I don't know whether this is the correct place to inform, but I must say that the renovated site of the Daredevils is absolutely stunning. The earlier one was pathetic.

Ha ha :lol Even I found them pretty amusing. They seem to be flexing their muscles.

The player write-ups are excellent, though.

I really hope Daredevils give Varun Aaron a go.
