Don Bradman 17 PC Now Available - General Discussion

Sorry if has been asked but I am in a hurry so didn't have time to do a thorough search. What is the controller support for the pc version? So can I play it on the x-box 360 controller? Reason I am asking so late is that I only just discovered that the program I used to hook up my ps3 controller doesnt work anymore. Any suggestions of good, budget controllers would be much appreciated or even better yet, a way to use my ps3 controller although I do understand it isn't supported by Microsoft.
Thanks

if you still want to use the ps3 one, you can get this xinput wrapper:
http://forums.pcsx2.net/attachment.php?aid=49455

unzip the content and run "scpdriver.exe" to install it. Then download and install the xbox driver
if you dont have it already:
Xbox 360 Controller for Windows | Download per i dispositivi | Microsoft Accessories

it should work now, if you still have problems here there are detailed instructions:

XInput Wrapper for DS3 and Play.com USB Dual DS2 Controller

So what happens when honest, paying customers don't have Internet access and suddenly honest, paying customers can't play the games that honest, paying customers have paid for? How does it disadvantage the Pirates? DRM has not stopped piracy at all, not even a dent.

Which happened about two weeks ago.

It's one thing for the developer to be all for it but I can't believe that a consumer could possibly actively encourage it.

It is very clearly mentioned in the Game Requirement section "Broadband Internet Connection is REQUIRED to Play this game". If you are not sure, you will have Network connection all the time, you may think about skip it altogether. If you buy the game even after reading the basic requirements that is mentioned to play the game, you cannot cry/complain later.

who is playing DBC17 - which requires a fairly high end machine - and doesn't have internet access or even a 3G mobile for the boot?

@Ross has always said that once they put in the DBC14 the piracy fell of a cliff. He's also said clearly that if DBC17 gets pirated on the same scale, that's it for cricket on PC.

i'd actively encourage anything that gave us more games on PC in the future, even though at present my PC barely runs 17 I would expect to getting a new one at some point... and i hope to play dbc19 on it.

This..

This may have something to do with it

That's depressing but understandable. I so hope it's not the case this time.

I remember Ross said the game was pirated 500 to 1 in India.

Very concerning. Hopefully the DRM stops them.

Also most torrent sites are banned (by government in India) or removed, it will reduce it to some extent.

Thanks heaps mate. I can't actually try it until late tomorrow morning (I have actual cricket to play and don't have access now) but am crossing my fingers that it does work. Not because of saving money, as I would probably get a proper controller at a later stage, but the fact that I can get lean back and enjoy the game rather than frantically running around and wasting a chunk of my day just to play the game on time

With the piracy issue, it is just sad. While BA's previous games may be a tad overpriced (talking $15 here, if that), it doesn't give people an excuse to screw over not just the developer, but also the customers who have done the proper thing. As someone who was a ps3 player last time round, how bad was the piracy?

Edit:Just read posts above...that is truely shocking and really sad to hear. I was envisioning 20% at most, although I can understand that India will have the leading amount of pirates

Yep. I also remember Ross mentioning that post patch 3 (not sure about the exact number), DBC14 was not pirated. So I'm guessing they might have followed the same path for DBC17 too.

That's really interesting. Hopefully it reduces it.

@MattW will we be doing the verified tick thing again for the steam versions of DBC17 or nah?

That was done to access downloads section in DBC 14 so dont think so..Would be nice though to get that green tick to get the list of legit players in DBC 17..

Yeah it'd be nice just for the second bit you stated.

It is a battle but DRM is the future (we may not agree with it), piracy is a big problem but can be dealt with. In my industry we have pretty heavy security, for games developers they have a need to insure the investment is secure in the security of their product and on PC it can be seen as a gamble.

Governments need to be proactive in taking down torrent sites hard but a unified approach may provale.
