Don Bradman Cricket 14 General Discussion

Don Bradman Cricket is a good game but there is a few things that could make it a great game.

1. Bat different positions in different formats. For example you see a player like Brendon McCullum who opens in t20 a d Odi cricket but bats at 5 in tests. You should be able to select where you bat for each format.

2. Team Career not just a player but you take a whole team and play with them be good if you're able to sign players and win competitions.

3. Stadiums. There is no variety of stadiums. Majority of stadiums I play in is Lancashire Stadium.

Don't get me wrong Don Bradman cricket is a good game these would just improve it

I wish you could change your playing XI during your career. I am now captaining Australia and I still have Shane Watson, Brad Haddin, Mitchell Johnson, Ryan Harris and Chris Rogers. So make sure before you start your career you replace all teams with best.

I agree EnglishCricketer. There should be more in the commentary and there should be an option of a bowling style. Lasith Malinga slingshots the ball instead of bowling normally and every spinner has a different action. it gets boring watching the same action with each bowler :bwl:

Started playing when the game was released and the game has got very stale for me. the game is no way the best it can be, bot saying its bad, in fact it surpassed my expectations, however i do believe the next iteration f the game will be a lot better. We all know whats wrong with the game, now its just working on them and then getting the finished product out but working and proper, don't mind if it takes longer than intended just as long as a good gaming experience is there and its new and fresh.

Hi does anyone know why you can't be a batting all rounder and be an opening batsmen ? It's not unrealistic as Shane Watson has done it before , if you choose a career as a batsman can you develop into a bowler as well ?

That's some sahood feedback.

I was all for the game and got it when it was released. The thing that stopped me playing it was firstly - the AI always seemed to hit good balls. Pitch it on off swinging away at 150 clicks and the AI seemed to hardly ever nick or play and miss. This was the most disappointing thing.

The second was the batting system. It always seemed to boil down to a cow-corner slog or a straight/off drive. I think it was OK, but if there some sort of slightly earlier indicator then you could play proper shots more effectively. What happens in real life is you watch the bowlers hand it get indicators as to where the ball will be bowled by the early or late release and direction of the hand. I wonder if this could be accentuated in DBC?

Thirdly was that because of the batting system, the bowling had to be slowed down, so 150 km/h balls seemed pretty slow compared to the flaming hot missiles of death they should have been.

These things may have been fixed since I last played though. I think it's been about a year or so since I've been on these forums!

It's just a feature of the game. We've even seen a bowling all rounder open the innings (Irfan Pathan) in international cricket, but that's uncommon. Normally the top 4 are specialised batsmen (Gilchrist, Hayden, Ponting, Martyn, or Warner, Finch, Smith, Bailey, or Tendulkar, Sehwag, Ganguly, Dravid, or Dhawan, Sharma, Kohli, Rahane).
I don't know if your batsman can acquire enough bowling skill to become an all-rounder (so to speak) later on in his career, but I've played around 5 years with my batsman so far, and he gets sent in to bowl so rarely that he hardly gets any skill improvement. However, I think there is a way you can work around this. Once you get the captaincy of your team, just keep sending your player to bowl again and again, and eventually he will build up enough skill.

There are batting assists that you can use which tells you where the ball will pitch and if it's on leg or off.

Once you get the hang of batting you would easily be able to play without the assists and without needing to guess where the ball will land.

But my batsman is a left arm chinaman bowler and he even opens the bowling sometimes. And I regularly bowl 10 to 12 overs in a four day match. And I am a opening batsman

Has anyone made Mohammad Amir yet? he is back in international cricket so someone should make him in game it's hard to do on 360

Lovely cut shot.
