Don Bradman Cricket 14 General Discussion

there are some cranky snobby blokes on this forum for sure.....

id hate to be a newbie and ask the wrong question.... jee...

----------

i will give you blokes a hint, a whole bunch of new people are going to join this forum and ask questions and talk different stuff as word gets out of this new title, as people find out more coming closer to release

if you blokes are going to keep acting like this, i suggest you start ya own thread where you "veterans" and all you blokes who are so much better than us because you have been here since 2007 can talk amongst ya selves without being botherd by us new blokes....

how does that sound?

The problem is though that the majority of these 'newbies' do not take the time to read through threads to find the answers to their questions. It's just pure laziness.

I'm relatively new. In terms of plaguing the forums with questions asked before (those people getting heavily criticized, like yourself, fall into this category), I looked for the answers first. If I couldn't find them, I asked.

It's now inexcusably easy (http://www.planetcricket.org/forums...ricket-14-read-first-83261-3.html#post2577391) so there is no excuse that you can't find the majority of the answers to your questions, you've just arrogantly assumed that your question will take precedence over questions of the ones who have actually read the forum. When you don't get an answer, you criticize people for berating the ask before read newcomers and feel hard done by.

Nathan Scott you couldnt be any more wrong in regards to me

I have read every single post to do with every part on this game, I have not asked a question that has already been answered so dont put me in this boat. Dont make assumptions without checking the facts.

I know everything there is to know about this game that has been provided on these boards.

I just dont see the need for the attitude, mainly, the questions will be asked, there is just no need to reply with attitude

It just makes the people replying sound extremely arrogant, just ignore it, if people dont read everything and they ask a silly question, just move on, it aint that hard i reckon

Its just my opinion thats all

It makes the boards hard to read when there are a whole bunch of arrogant posters because they know more than somone else

Is this boards for the public, or are these boards for a select special few....

it doesnt make new people feel very welcomed thats all i am saying, i am just sticking up for the new boys

You are right. If you can make the effort to sign up and join the forum then you can make the effort to read a couple of posts to get the lowdown. Having said that, I've observed the Planet Cricket games forum can be a cliquey place at times (I must add none of the other PC forums are like that).

It must be difficult for people to differentiate those who knowingly pepper the forum asking for videos and a release date, and those who come on here with good intentions and get inadvertently swept with the same brush.

Although some people have invested a lot into this game (and we owe them a lot!) I think a bit of patience is required to differentiate the pests from well-intentioned people who will come on here, not see Angad's thread, and ask a question that has already been covered by that thread.

Guys, it's getting a little embarrassing to keep constantly reading requests for things that you're never going to get for some arbitrary "locale based" event. I think we can rise above this kinda nonsense and just be thankful for what we get, when we get it - least some of us come across a little stranger than others. Some of you are doing yourselves absolutely no favors...

Enjoy the fact we get something, fairly regularly... on a Friday. Just be happy with that, yeah?

Lets put a pin in it.

Ross, I've just eaten a packet of jaffa cakes and had a cup of tea. Can you post a video to help me celebrate? I'd like to see multiple angles of the umpire signalling for a wide.

Thank you guys for posting this. I'm sick of seeing people link an event to posting a video etc. Skip, you summed that up perfectly. I've been wanting to say what you guys are talking about for a while, but again, I've been to lazy :p

Reminds me of Twitter when you see a random tweet a celebrity saying "I went to the dentist today, can I get a retweet?". Like, seriously? It means that much to you?

Anyway, I'll be looking forward to what we get on Friday.

Haha... Okay...

still no word on a release date i see??

[could we] have some sought of big realease news or anything in honour of Sir Dons Last innings???

Case dismissed. As everyone has said, you're exactly whats wrong with these threads. Just because you're new doesn't mean you get to be ignorant and clog up threads with your junk. Big difference between trying to create some collective comradery and comedy with jokes and just being annoyingly stupid. If you don't know the answer to the question, use the search function. It's simple. Nobody has problems with new members, in fact, I actively encouraged signing up days ago. EVERYONE has problems with ignorant lazy new members who waste teachers precious time asking about release dates and images and videos for arbitrary events. Most of the "veterans" [your words] remember the days when we got little to no interaction from developers, let alone the CEO of the company and we would prefer we gave the impression (that fits the example of 90% of our members) of a collective group of reasonably mature smart forum members, and that our opinion and feedback is considered and valued. Posts like "gimmie release date" and "it's my birthday, where's my inside-edge video?" do not send that message.

If we as a collective want to be taken seriously, members like yourself will view any critique of your lazy posting habits constructively and act accordingly.

Is it likely that we'll ever be able to create our own 'brands' with an opportunity to displaying it on our bats/pads, etc? I've got some cool swishy logo ideas.

I think it's unlikely the in-box game will have that kind of feature, but Ross' has said certain 'tools' will be given to appropriate people at an appropriate time here on PlanetCricket which will enable us to mod certain aspects of the PC version of the game, therefore, there's every likelihood you'll be able swishy-cool yourself some logos. But you'd need it on PC at that point... there wouldn't be any way to do that on the console versions, but I imagine there will be plenty of alternate 'brands' in the final version of the game, but we'll just have to wait and see what licenses they have obtained for that stuff. My background is in graphics mods, so I'm pretty keen to get stuck in on that stuff, but it will most likely be a VERY different type of modding that will need to happen, based on what we've got in the CA Beta, so doing those mods will take some time to get a hang of I imagine. But, I'm pretty keen to get stuck in like you, so lets wait and see...

I have a question about licensing, but before i post i must search every thread for the answer 1st

Hopefully i can post my question by tomorrow sometime....

You can just search the word license in posts posted by ross only. There cant be 500 posts on it.

Just checked myself and ross has 29 posts regarding that...read away :)

yeah I found what i was looking for

as it said in the "what we know" thread, the teams will be fake, but transferring real teams over from the Cricket Academy on multiple platforms, for me that would be on PS3, should be fairly easy

Obviously this will be the 1st thing that 90% of people do

so my next step, download the cricket academy to see what its all about
