Don Bradman Cricket 14 General Discussion

Big and hopefully final ca update this friday enabling skill attributes of players. Release notes on thursday.

Note to self: Be kind to Blockerdave otherwise forum may get threads merged or closed... in other news went looking for a kitchen but the "go to" site for such stuff isn't working any more...

I thought I was being kind to them, putting them out of their misery* ;) it doesn't seem like we're in danger of reaching that pass with you...

On another note I also tried the kitchen site but it worked... what i saw there ties in with what i saw here and on facebook.

on 9/10 sept the admin there linked to FB saying Mike was answering questions there. Since 10 Sept no admin activity there. On FB, yeah Mike answered a couple of questions but again nothing since 10 Sept. Here we got something on 11 Sept (literally, an admission that he has nothing positive to say about the game...) and no activity since.

my guess is it was around the 12th Sept that 505 saw the "assets" and pulled the plug. now probably just untangling the legal/financial implications of making it official.

* My feelings are currently something like this:
General Melchett: Now George, you remember when I came down to visit you when you were a nipper, for your sixth birthday? You used to have a lovely little rabbit, beautiful little thing, do you remember?
Lieutenant George: Flossie.
General Melchett: That's right, Flossie! Do you remember what happened to Flossie?
Lieutenant George: You shot him.
General Melchett: That's right! It was the kindest thing to do after he'd been run over by that car.
Lieutenant George: By *your* car, sir.
General Melchett: Yes, by my car. But that, too, was an act of mercy when you remember that that dog had been set on him.
Lieutenant George: *Your* dog, sir.
General Melchett: Yes, yes, my dog. But what I'm trying to say, George, is that the state young Flossie was in after we'd scraped him off my front tyre, is very much the state that young Blackadder will be in now: if not very nearly dead, then very actually dead!

How unlikely may it seem, I think Ashes Cricket 2013 is still on its way to the announced November release. It is only my guess and it may be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that they haven't pulled the plug yet. Simple because they can't afford that. The license is of Ashes 2013 and they can't afford to let go of that.

I think that Mike Fegan is playing the same mind game as Ross is doing right now. They aren't showing and/or releasing any substantial information about their games (Screenshots/videos in case of Ashes, and release date in case of DBC'14). Both the games will be released as planned earlier. My 2 cents.

Adding to that, I think Ross - more than Mike Fegan - is running out of time. If Ross wants to maximize his profits (which I'm sure is what he is aiming for) he needs to release his game before the Ashes one. And in order to that, he will have to be the one coming forward. According to my calculations, the only profitable window is of late October - and the release date will be announced in the next 3-12 days. Moreover, the moment Ross officially announces the release date, he will have to reveal a lot of information regarding his game, and this is what Mike will use to his benefits. If Ross doesn't announce the game in the next 2 weeks, the late Oct release date will become a hard reality to achieve and the game will have to clash with Ashes during "The Ashes" - which will be bloody! So, that's the justification of my point that Mike is biding his time, for he knows that Ross will have to ultimately reveal all the information which he has been holding so far, within the next 12 days - while Mike Fegan (who is releasing the game in late Nov, not Oct) will have a wee bit of more time.

It's been pretty calm in here for the past 2-3 days. Usually I get a lot of unread posts on a daily basis, but that hasn't been the case lately. Maybe the new CA update will change that :cheers

True. In the gameplay - especially what PC members desire - BA wins hands down. But I think we'll be surprised seeing the number of sales Ashes actually make (because of the license and arcadey features that many non-hardcore gamers prefer)

when exactly does the australian cricket summer start?

it all comes down to being a good game.even casual gamers appreciate realistic gameplay mechanics more.forza and gran turismo being miles apart than other titles sell brilliantly.and no other casual arcade game sells as much.unless of course even being unrealisitc and arcady type the gameplay is fast and mainly fun ala nfs most wanted then that sells huge too.one of the best racing games iv'e played was speed freaks or something like that.a cartoony racing game like mario cart.whatever the path chosen if the gameplay is done well then its good.but realistic engines will definitely have an upper hand specially for serious games like cricket.ashes can sell but big ant has the upper hand.

Beginning of November for the International. Mid to late October for Domestic and local leagues.

I suppose I can discuss Cricket Academy here.
In Match type designer under fielding REstriction- what does "Fileding restriction count" meant?
Also could not find where Powerplay/Fileding restiction option was?
In Filed Type Designer How can we bring (if possible) fielders a few step ahead?
Please reply
